Whenever my friends and relatives ask me what will be my clinical specialty in the future, I tell them preliminarily that I always wanted to do IM-Cardio or Cardiothoracic Surgery but I think I will know the specialty that I really want once I rotate during Clerkship and Internship. I'm really excited for this module, especially the patient encounters and integrative labs! I hope this module will inspire me to stick with my preliminary clinical specialty dream--lubb dubb!

I really enjoyed my human physiology course in undergrad, especially the cardiovascular section. I'm looking forward to learning more about the heart and the lungs in this module! I'm also expecting to feel a bit overwhelmed by the amount of information I'll have to absorb within just three weeks, but I hope I can manage! :)
I'm a bit concerned about adjusting to this module. So far, I've tried many different study routines for each module because they all seem to require a different strategy. I don't really have a set study strategy in place yet, so I hope I can finally find one, especially since this is the last module of the semester. I'm also concerned about the histology portions of the course. I'm not the best at histology, so I really hope the topics are explained well! ^___^'
I don't really have any questions at the moment, but I hope it's all right if I just message you, Doc, and ask for help on topics I really don't understand! :D
Overall, though, I've been looking forward to this course and I can't wait to "meet" you tomorrow, po, Doc! ^__^

Hi! I'm Jonrich Dy from TG13 and Anatomy Group 22. I expect this module to be hard, as many have previously said, but I also expect it to be fun and exciting to learn. I usually prefer topics that are more process-based than memory based, and so I'm excited to learn this module even though I know it will be hard. I've always wanted a specialization in Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery (although I'm still open to changing specialities as I go throughout med school). I hope to learn a lot and hopefully gain a further appreciation for this module. My main concern and question is whether the questioning style of the exams are only lecture-based, or are we expected to be asked questions coming from the book that was not tackled in the lectures? Also, will the exam questions be more case-based? I would also be more comfortable with having a few non graded quizzes that have similar questioning styles with the exam so we can orient ourselves on what to focus on and how to study during our reviews :D

Hello, I'm Celin Audrey V. Nuñez or Audrey for short from Anatomy Group 3. Back in undergrad, I considered Cardio-Respi as one of the more challenging subjects because it is very difficult to absorb all of the concepts, and I was only able to appreciate the theoretical concepts when I already handled patients firsthand. Given that, I expect that this module will still be as overwhelming since it'll only be done in 3 weeks, but I hope to be able to better grasp and supplement the concepts I learned before. Being an RN, Cardio-Respi PE is something I'm quite familiar with, so I'm also hoping to improve my skills. We also rotated at the ECG Department for a week back in undergrad, but to be honest, I wasn't really able to fully grasp what the probes captured. Hopefully I get to understand more about the normal anatomy and physiology of the Cardio-Respi systems so that I'll be able to apply them better in the future!

Hello! My name is Alyanna Gonzales, but you may call me Ayan for short. From the advice of my upper batch, I expect that this module will be overwhelming content-wise (especially as the last module for the year) but that having compassionate profs ultimately makes it easier and even fun to learn. According to them, this module focused more on understanding than memorization, with an emphasis on concepts and story-based/sequence-of-events learning. This boosts my confidence because I have a better time absorbing information this way. Personally I am excited for CardioRespi, because I grew up learning about the heart from my father, who is a cardiologist, at a young age! I would play with his model of the heart like a toy and always try to describe what I saw in ECGs as “mountains, buildings, hills” etc. so I am looking forward to how to actually interpret an ECG correctly. I am also anticipating the most impactful and memorable parts of this module to be the patient encounters, of which I am equally excited and nervous to conduct. My only concern for the module is the volume of lectures to study for the next 3 weeks (would appreciate any tips for a slow reader/learner hihi). Overall, I am looking forward to our future sessions and meetings for CardioRespi! 🫀🫁

P.S., one of my father’s greatest dreams is to someday go on rounds in hospitals with one of his children by his side… Here's hoping this module will make me want to help fulfill that dream someday lol! :)

I expect that Cardio-Respi to focus more on physiology than the previous 2 anatomy modules had, and that it'll probably be difficult to absorb immediately. Regardless, I'm still excited because of the interesting dynamics of the cardio-respiratory system, how they work, and how they could be affected and cause common problems.
