The major differences between democratic and authoritarian governments is that democratic governments give more power to the citizens and authoritarian governments have one absolute leader/leaders in control of almost everything. Authoritarian governments the leader is not help accountable by the people, meaning that the people did not choose their leader and the people have no say in what the leader does. In democratic governments the people have the power to vote on laws, or vote on who they want to represent them and vote on the laws for them.

In the world there are more types of democratic/republic governments. I think that is because most countries want to be more fair towards their citizens. Also, because in history, authoritarian governments did not work as well, and many countries rioted and fell. So there are a lot of countries, most of the world, that has free, fair, and power to the people governments.
