I think why Ooblek is a liquid and solid is because corn starch and water both allow things to go through when using a small amount of force, but corn starch when held together and applied a lot of force; won't budge, unlike water. But when they merge together, there has to be more corn starch than water to be able to make Ooblek because then the corn starch will act as a gate in the water so if pressured with force will become a solid but if the force is too strong it is able to break through. Also since water and corn starch if applied low force can be move through of.
