1620 - Of Plymouth Plantation

The Pilgrims were a group of about 100 or more people who sailed over on a ship called the Mayflower. Among these people were 35 people who called themselves puritans. They formed a church called The English separatist church. The pilgrims left in search of new land they could practice their radical religion with out oppression or persecution. This ship and group of religious believers were lead by William Bradford.

The Puritans in the town of Salem had strong morals and values. One very important value was the belief in God. Another value was in family honor. The Puritans values shaped the American dream by Creating a system of strong beliefs and back round that created the whole some morals in people. Reverend Parris was very controversial as people disliked him for his greedy nature.

The Age of Enlightenment or The Age of Reason is an era from the 1620's to the 1780's. Cultural and intellectual forces in Western Europe emphasized reason, analysis, and individualism rather than traditional lines of authority. It was promoted by philosophers and local thinkers in salons. It challenged the authority of institutions that were deeply rooted in society.
