The Western Wall is considered the Holiest site where Jews can pray. The name "Wailing Wall" comes from during the Christian Roman Rule over Jerusalem, from 324 AD to 638 AD, where Jews weren't allowed into Jerusalem. They were only allowed in Jerusalem for one day and it was to mourn the destruction of their temples, and cry. The Christians in rule then termed it the Wailing Wall, although Jews do not call it that.
