As Deegan (2009) pointed out, institutional theory plays a vital role in explaining why firms seek to balance sustainability engagements, such as CEPs, and business performance by developing a multifaceted organizational structure that enhances stakeholder demands as part of building a system that promotes corporate efficiency.
