I have chosen Immediate media co to distribute my music magazine as not only are they experienced and 100% professional, they work with the BBC and have distributed magazines such as Top of the Pops which is in the same genre as my music magazine so I can ensure that they will be able to reach the right target audience. Immediate media co is one of the biggest consumer media businesses in the UK and the fourth largest magazine publishers.

BBC Top of the Pops Magazine is the biggest-selling teen lifestyle title in the market, focusing on self discovery, self expression and the world of celebrities. Featuring the latest fashion and beauty, star gossip, real life stories and celebrity advice, the magazine brings readers exclusive and exciting content every four weeks. It is a well known magazine by those who may not even read it, it is so similar to my magazine and I feel that in terms of distribution, immediate media co are the best people to move my magazine forward.

Do they have a good reputation?

It is important that media institutions
have a good reputation and immediate media co definitely do. This is important
because if the institution has a bad reputation then the magazines associated
with the company are not going to sell as many copies as a magazine related to
a well known, popular and respected institution.

Magazines distributed by this company are available through a range of different of different media’s, for instance, you can view Top of the Pops on paper from your local newsagents or you can simply go online and subscribe to read the copy on the internet. It is important that my distributer would use a range of technologies such as printing as well the World Wide Web because people are becoming more aware of different technologies and use them as appropriate in terms of their income as well as convenience. For instance, a 14 year old girl may not want to leave her room with her friends to go to the shop and buy a magazine where as she would go online and ask her parents or use pocket money to subscribe to the site and view it from home.

Do they distribute different genres? Is this a bad thing?

Although immediate media co does also
distribute magazines completely different to those of the pop genre, this is
useful as it may help my magazine reach an unexpected and unconventional
audience. For instance, they distribute match of the day magazine which would
appeal to males of all ages interested in football and the same male that
intends to buy this magazine may see my magazine from the same distribution
company and recognize or even like an artist on the front cover and possibly be
interested in buying the magazine.
