Most thrillers range between that of a 12 and a 15 generally because of the more mature content often involving death, murder, blood scenes of violence etc. Also thrillers are quite intelligent and you have to think about a lot more, Thrillers such as Looper and Inception both require quite a large amount of concentration. Looper to understand the time travel system which makes up the back bone of the story, and Inception understanding who's dream they are in at any one time and if they are even in a dream at all. This level of thinking and maturity of thinking may can also again can be credited to that of a higher age rating. Slashers such as 'Saw' and 'Party Movies' such as 'Spring Breakers' etc have only been credited as an 18 due to mindless killing and or nudity/'adult humor'.

Our opening I believe who be deemed fit of a 12 rating as it includes a kidnaping and a murder, as well as some creepy fetishes and OCD of that of the murder which would most likely be explored later on in the film. The opening requires you also to concentrate for the whole of it as there are small section that do raise certain questions; which again would be explored later on in the film. I also believe that our thriller contains i fair bit of tension of which I do not believe younger children would understand.

As you see in most thrillers gore is kept to a minimum, it is either done by implication it's not dramatised or over exaggerated not like that of Saw or films like Kill Bill, unrealistic so to speak.

In our Thriller we didn't want the victim to paint the wall in new instant colour called neck blood. We wanted to keep it realistic but we believed that showing the murderer slit there throat may be a little mature for our predicted audience possibly pointing more towards the horror genres. To get around this problem we decide to hide the kill by having the killers body mask it by standing in front of the victim. We wanted the victim to die from a cut to the throat as it is one of the only singular moves you can do to kill a person instantly, we couldn't really see our victim being bludgeoned to death. We wanted it to be around a 12 after all, not a 18

The Dar Knight - Similar Idea

As you can see to the right, this scene the joker kills one of the mob bosses, you never see him kill him just the before and after, the murder is indicated by one of the thugs reactions and the body falling afterwards. The kill is masked by the joker in a similar way that ours is probably because the showing of the joker cutting a 'smile' into someones face is deemed inappropriate to that of a 12 rating.
