Reflecting on my own experiences with GarageBand and now being more comfortable with having already made the transition from the regular classroom to my first year teaching Music, I am trying to better understand how I can use such a program alone or in coordination with others to help students achieve learning goals in a fun, interactive and engaging manner in year 2. Check out what I found when cruising Pinterest... Lots of summer reading! https://www.pinterest.com/explore/garageband/

Students can record themselves singing individually or in small groups (e.g., alto, soprano, etc.) to the piano accompaniment. This will allow them to hear themselves from an audience perspective and get experience using the software. They can listen to and assess their performances individually, in small groups, as a whole choir or a whole class, using the Elements of Music.

After a bit of browsing, I found this poster that outlines how specific apps we use in education can be classified into different levels of Dr. Puentedura's Model. Do you see any apps here that you are familiar with? What do you think about where they have been placed? Note, GarageBand is not mentioned as an app used in education.
I wonder why? I could see an app like GarageBand falling into more than one category on this chart - and below, you can read up on how I find it relates to the SAMR model in my particular classroom environment.
