Fr. Charles believes that these artifacts are good examples of catholicism because they truly show how well respected the artifacts are throughout the movie and how the people are willing to risk their lives to keep these reflects safe and out of the reach of evil or corrupt people.

He talks about the clocks acting as the holy spirit to shield us from any evil that is in the world. This can relate to the holy spirit because its job is to help guide us through rough times and to get us to our ultimate goal in heaven with God.

It is different because when the elves give the bread to Sam and Frodo it is more of a peace offering and the eucharist is service to remind those taking part of that final meal and of the solemn words and actions of someone at the edge of death.

The horns of Rohan and Erol provide a strong sacramental effect because it is a sound of courage and honor that the people are taking upon themselves. This can be compared to the sacraments in the way that they help us push through our hardships and help us to ultimately know ourselves and Jesus.

This plant of Athelas can be compared to the sacrament of anointing because in the movie this plant is used to heal frodo when he had been stabbed, the sacrament of anointing is Jesus reaching out his love to those who are very sick, or near to death. This helps show the loving heart of Jesus.
