Start of Holocaust (1933 – 1945)

On January 30th, 1933, Adolf Hitler was appointed chancellor of Germany and started the Holocaust the persecution of millions of innocent Jewish men, women, and children.

Hitler takes Austria and Czechoslovakia (1938)

On March 12th, 1938, Hitler annexed Austria using blitzkrieg tactics. After the Munich Agreement, on October 1st, of the same year Hitler annexed the Sudetenland from Czechoslovakia.

On July 26th, 1941, the U.S. placed an embargo on Japan. The Japanese desired a large empire and many natural resources to continue their industrial revolution. The U.S. became very anxious about Japan, so it ceased trade with the Japanese, which Tojo did not like.

Fall of France and Battle of Britain (The Blitz) (May 10, 1940 | July 10 – October 31, 1940)

On May 10th, 1940, France surrendered and was taken over by Nazi Germany which led to the discontent of the people. On July 10th, 1940, the Battle of Britain commenced when Hitler sent bomb raids on the British citizens, and Britain set up a great defense that led to their victory on October 31st, 1940.

Miracle at Dunkirk (May 26 - June 4, 1940)

On May 26th, 1940, Britain sent ships to retrieve Allied troops in the newly annexed France and land them in Britain. At first, they were ordered to only retrieve British Soldiers but later changed to bringing all of the Allied troops to Britain. On June 4th, 1940, British ships and staff rescued a total of 338,226 British and Allied troops and brought them to England.

Rome-Berlin-Tokyo Axis Forms (October 25, 1936)

On October 25th, 1936, Germany's, Italy's, and Japan's leaders signed an agreement in Berlin to cooperate when the war broke out, and when they won they would split the world. This agreement marked the formation of the Axis powers in WWII.
