1. Getting to know people and their personal experiences; recognizes others' values; encourage students/children to connect and build relationships; it's a natural ice breaker.
2. It allows students to journal their artifacts or someone else's object in a written activity. Using someone else's artifact to share to the classroom and practice big group oral communication. By sharing on a padlet, it encourages students to engage in a form or media literacy.

- A simple activity that helps students get to know each other better
- talking about a personally significant artefact can be easier for students to talk about than just talking about themselves
- This activity could be tailored to different subjects, for example: asking students to bring in their favourite book.
- For more advanced or older classes, students could also be asked to respond to other's objects in class or through an exit card.

It allows students to get to know each other, build a community and the activity falls into the oral strand. It also makes them to practice oral exercises and to present in front of different audiences. It also promotes to extend interest in other strands, other literature. Art can lead to other topics such as history and could find meanings.
