A framework can help us with self-reflection, communal reflection, and holding ourselves institutionally accountable when it comes to equity. A framework might help make this work more tangible. If everyone has their own understanding of equity, the term gets watered down and carries very little weight. Without a framework, it makes it easier for folks to use the term equity while actively undermining equity.

What will we be doing in regards to holding ourselves accountable to the framework? If there are areas in the framework, which require professional learning, are we going to support that work?

I think that we need to continue PL for all modalities of teaching for the sake of equity and student success.


I think we could do a better job of identifying why students drop before the first census.


Giving access to data is not enough to help us be equity advocates. We need professional learning to help us learn how to look at and communicate out what is in the data.


I think that there needs to be more shared investment around DEIA work if it is going to mean anything. I think that when it gets embedded into observations and hiring practices, it can create inequities without enough training. This includes all on our campus (including administrators). There is a danger of using data to undermine equity opportunities.
