M. Victoria Ruiz Sena B2-1A
I have chosen this song because as soon as I read the tittle, it seemed totally horrible to me. The song is sexist, chauvinist, and incites gender violence. The singer says in the song that "I killed her because she was mine". He justifies the violence and murder because she was his property as if women had an owner. This feeling of belonging and possession of men over women, so common today amount some adolescents, should disappear.

Gloria Reina Vinardell Grupo B1-C

This song was written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney in 1965.
It is difficult to choose which parts to highlight as misogynistic, so let’s start at the beginning: ‘Well, I'd rather see you dead, little girl / Than to be with another man’. This seems like an argument often used by a jealous boyfriend or partner. Then he continues saying: ‘Well, you know that I'm a wicked guy / And I was born with a jealous mind’, and ‘And I can't spend my whole life / Trying just to make you toe the line’. Here, “make you toe the line” means “to control, to make sure you are obedient”.
The chorus mentions the title of the song and it is maybe the most obvious part: ‘You better run for your life if you can, little girl / Hide your head in the sand, little girl / Catch you with another man / That's the end, little girl’. Here we have a threat (if I catch you with another man, I will kill you), and also the fact that they keep calling her “little girl”, which is very patronising.

Firstly the name of the song tells us that he thinks about women: a Gold Digger (a person who only wants men with a lot of money). Secondly, if a man patronizes to women like a human withous inteligence, a superficial person, here is the proof: "met her at a beauty salon With a baby Louis Vuitton under her underarm".

Eva Gómez Sánchez. B2-1 A

Hawai is a Maluma song. This song talks about his ex-girlfriend who in that time had a relation with other person. I consider that the most reggaeton songs are sexist and this song is an example.

Firstly, he says "she post photos in her social networks to make me jealous". I gather from this words that he is a toxic person because he keeps checking her social networks to see what she is doing. Other thing that he says is "He treats you well but I came before". I think that not for coming into her life before, this means that he could be more important to her. He sees her like his possesion.

Besides, he says "I don't believe that when I phone you, you ignore me". Here, we can see that he thinks that he is superior to her. He is the strongest and she is the weakest. She is the only one who suffers for love.

Lastly, there is other phrase: "After me, you won't have more relations". He believes that she is nothing without him and she depends on him to be happy.

Women are free and independent and they don't depend on their partner to live. From my point of view, educating about sexism is very relevant. All the parents must educate to their sons in these values. Also, I think that there should be a subject at all schools about sexism. Finally it's important to make people aware of this problem.

The first of them was a siren. She only told “I love you” if she saw the wallet with a lot of money. The song tells us that the man chosed the most pretty woman, however she was not the most best. The man forgot her quickly and he knew an other woman, who she had green eyes and a business between the legs.

My opinion:

I find that the song has several sexist parts.

The first point is that the man knew two girls and they are prostitute.

Noelia Gutiérrez Gómez B2-1
I have chosen a taranto called "Bars of bronze". Taranto is one of the categories of the "Flamenco", a typical kind of Spanish music, specifically of the south of the country (Andalucía). This type of music has usually been very sexist in lots of their lyrics. From the beginning to the last years, it has been written flamenco lyrics which have treated women as an object or a currency to change. Probably, this was one of the reason why women were prohibited to sing flamenco during a long time. Also, there was a low level of culture in the most part of Andalucía at the end of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century and the gipsy society was very closed-minded, so this situation was an advantage to the male chauvinism.
We can hear the following sentences in the song:
"Due to the jealousy you cause me, I cry everywhere. I will take you to a convent with bars of bronze, so nobody will be able to see you and touch you."
The woman who sings is Pepa Flores although her first artistic name was Marisol. She was very famous singer and actress from her chilhood to her maturity, exactly from 1959 to 1985, but she had to pay a high price for the fame. It was a long sad story and finally, she kept away of the public life forever.
In 1979, she told in an interview how much embarrased she was, due to a lot of sexist lyrics that she had to sing during her carrier.
Fortunatly, most of the flamenco singers have adapted some old sexist lyrics to others more equal. Nowadays, Andalucia is a very learned region and goverments are working to reduce the male chauvinism in the gypsy society, which is changing their customes.

B2.1
My first reaction when I read and listened to the song was of being surprised.
The lyrics said "I used to love her, but I had to kill her. I had to put her six feet under and I can still hear her complain...". This lyric is considered an apology of gender violence. I found the song demeaning and misogynistic to women because the message is so awful and humiliating. The guitar player Izzy Stradlin stated that they wrote it not about a woman but about a dog (Axel´s dog). I doubt it.
