Muslims in the U.S became the most ominous threat, by policy. ”Less than a month after 9/11, George W. Bush launched the office of Homeland Security.” The Office of Homeland Security is to prepare for, prevent, and respond to domestic emergencies, particularly terrorism. Borders and Airports are often the points where non-citizen are first detained. “We’re seeing a trend where Muslims are being deported, detained and denied entry into the United States for no good reason except tenuis affiliations.” After 9/11 the US should be feared about the Immigrants coming into the US due to the fact of terrorism.

Seth Freed Wessler is a reporter in New York and a Puffin Fellow with the Investigative Fund at the Nation Institute. If the US lets the immigrants in they should have to apply for a US citizenship right away and should be watched for a year. Also they shouldn’t be able to live off the government’s money and lying to the government.

Singer believes that it is the woman’s choice and that should always outweigh the potential life of a fetus. “We have no obligation to allow every being with the potential to become a rational being to realize that potential.” In this statement, Singer is saying that we owe everything to the current life over a life that is still considered potential until its birth. Singer also believes that the fetus has no rights until it is outside of the body and breathing, “We can’t simply invoke a woman’s ‘right to choose’ in order to avoid the ethical issue of the moral status of the fetus.”, especially not over the woman who has been living and is carrying the fetus. “If it comes to a crash between the supposed interests of potentially rational but not yet even conscious beings and the vital interest of actually rational women, we should give preference to the women everytime.” Singer continuously states his views that the women should always be given their right to choose because until born, the fetus has no rights due to it only being a potential life compared to a rational one.

Peter Singer is a firm believer that women should always have the right over anyone else. He stated his argument respectively but assertively to get his point across. Singer provides evidence by death rates of unsafe abortions formed due to the restrictions put on abortion. He also continues to state how the fetus is not yet a being but only of the homosapien species.

This article is very useful for providing me with an argument for late term abortion. Opposing Viewpoints. Opposing Viewpoints in Context, http://link.galegroup.com/apps/doc/EJ3010102439/OVIC?u=bcps&xid=35fba9d7. Accessed 23 Feb. 2018. Originally published as "Statement by Douglas Johnson, Legislative Director, National Right to Life Committee, On Pro-Life Priorities for 2012," National Right to Life Committee, 23 Jan. 2012.

In “Abortions Should be Restricted to Before Twenty Weeks Gestation” the idea expressed is that abortions should be prohibited after 20 weeks gestation. He states this because there is new evidence that proves fetuses are capable of feeling pain at 20 weeks, if not sooner. Also, the age of fetus viability gets lower and lower. Douglas Johnson talks about his viewpoint on when abortion should be allowed and why in his article.

In his process of expressing his opinion and writing this article, Douglas Johnson gives facts and logic on why abortions should be prohibited after 20 weeks gestation, and tells how the fetus is affected. In his article he states that “unborn children experience pain at least by 20 weeks after fertilization… and they therefore prohibit abortion at that time.” He states that states that do not have this law or passed the legislation, should pass it. To support his claim he also states “infants born as early as 23 or 24 weeks now commonly survive long term in neonatal intensive care units. Neonatologists have confirmed that they react negatively to painful stimuli- for example, by grimacing, withdrawing, and whimpering.” The author is very serious about his opinion on this viewpoint and believes this needs to be legal in all states. These facts help his claim that abortion should be restricted to before twenty weeks.

This article will be helpful in my research because I agree with his opinion on this viewpoint. I believe that abortion should only be legal or right in some circumstance, and if there is abortion it should only be done early in the pregnancy. This article will help me in an opposing article because it allows me to see how some people feel about abortion, and one viewpoint about it. So I will be able to right about how the other people feel about abortion and their differences in viewpoints, and why they feel the way they do.

The authors begin with evidence found in another country to further explain their argument.

Both of the authors give proof that ever since sex work has been legalized in Germany, the number of crimes related to sex trafficking has reduced. The text implements pathos by informing the audience that victims of sex trafficking in the United States are constantly reminded of their trauma. They explain it is possible to avoid this situation by legalizing sex work in America. Lehmann and Dolinsek believe it is more effective to legalize the act of paying for sex rather than putting suspects on trial for sex trafficking victims.

This article uses sources such as specific dates and location to support their claim as to why sex work should be legalized in the United States. The text will help the audience understand their opposing viewpoints because it clearly states that they are for sex work.

Current Controversies. Opposing Viewpoints in Context, http://link.galegroup.com/apps/doc/EJ3010946226/OVIC?u=bcps&xid=b96872d2. Accessed 27 Feb. 2018. Originally published as "2012 State Level Abortion Restrictions: A Dangerous Overreach into Women's Reproductive Health Care," nwlc.org, Jan. 2013.

The author of this article believes that abortion can help save women, and should be legal to preform whenever the woman wants to. The viewpoint in this article is that abortions should be legal at any term in the pregnancy because it is the woman’s right, it can be her own private medical decision of when and if she wants it, and that the lawmakers would be overreaching into the women’s reproductive health care.

The author of this article is very serious about this situation. The writer states “these laws subject a woman seeking an abortion to a medically unnecessary, physically invasive procedure. Requiring doctors to perform ultrasounds without regard for the circumstances or the patient's wishes impairs the doctor-patient relationship and violates principles of medical ethics.” This means that it should be up to the patient or woman, with no questions asked or extra procedures, whether she wants to have an abortion or not and at any term she wants. The article also states that states are taking away health insurance covering abortions, and the author believes this should not be happening, and was vetoed by a governor due to circumstances such as rape or 🤬. The author wants politics to stop playing with the women’s health.

I do not agree with this because a fetus at a certain term can feel pain, and they are creating a rational person, but just taking it away for their selves. I believe the baby should have rights and not just the women. But, this will help in an opposing article because I now know both viewpoints on abortion and why the people think and believe what they do on abortions.

Accessed 23 Feb. 2018.

The article written by Noah Berlatsky discusses how many sex trafficking victims are overlooked. Berlatsky explains that sometimes men are victims of sex trafficking, but it is very rare to see a male report it. As the male is supposed to portray certain stereotypes of society, it is often difficult for a man to discuss his encounter. Not only are trafficking victims ignored, but people typically target men as the perpetrator when is some cases women commit the crime.

Berlatsky offers a lot of supporting evidence when proving his claim. The author uses statistics such as percentages when referring to victims who report their horrific encounters. There are also many dates brought up from research that he found including the years the evidence was found. The article informs the audience that this problem is not seen by most people because it is something rare to hear about. Bertlasky mainly focuses on the stereotypes of a man in our society and how they are less likely to report this crime if they were a victim.

By providing supportive and reliable evidence, the author successfully gets his point across. He discusses the issues that are rarely seen by society and imports factual evidence relating to his claim. The author proves his credibility by implementing statistics and factual evidence that is able to be backed up.
