I noticed that music can be fantastic even though it doesn't have any instruments, lyrics, and people. I wonder how people came with these amazing sounds and ideas. The Music from a tree was very interesting and we can learn that nature can make sounds without instruments. He didn't use cello but we can listen to cello sounds in the tree. Some of the pieces of music were gloomy and show our bad memories, like Hiroshima. The kinds of music were effective to us by teaching us to remember Hiroshima and that nature can be music too. -Yewon Song

I noticed that most of the songs were music made by things. For example there was one that was made by ice blocks. When I was listening to the Hiroshima bomb song, I wondered about what the composer thought to come up with the melody. I like the one with the ice because they used unique things to make the song. For the one with the ice instruments, I think they carved the blocks into instrument shapes and made them thick for the correct sound. I think the one with the ice was very interesting. All of the songs where made in a unique way and I thought every piece was special. - Hannah -

I wonder how people make the musics or melody. The song called 'Big yellow taxi', by Joni Mitchell, I think she has thinking about how the world works about Environment. I think when people around the world listen to this song, 'Big yellow taxi', by Joni Mitchell, it will be effective to us because then, people will cut more less trees and not making the place into a parking lot. -Jane-

I notice that music was very creative and I wonder we don't need to be afraid of giving new ideas. I also discovered some interesting music and some thoughtful artists. The work that I thought it was best is 'music from a tree' by Diego Stocco. It is about 'In the garden of my house there's a tree with lots of randomly grown twigs. It looks odd and nice at the same time. One day I asked myself if I could create a piece of music with it.' - Diego Stocco. He used tree, finger, and idea. I think it could be effective to some artists or some people who love plant.

Lois

I noticed that the composers made music with topics and instruments that are not common to make music with.
I also discovered that they all had no lyrics, and the ones that had lyrics were short, but had a message. Those made me guess the meanings.
I particularly liked the tree one. I liked how it was very creative, not only making music with the tree itself, but rubbing cello(or violin) bows against a vine was very creative.
Songs with lyrics were mostly about problems in the world, and the ones without the lyrics were really creative and every piece was different from each other.
The composers made music from very simple but yet creative ideas, and that made the pieces more interesting. It wasn't really effective in telling the message of things to me.
It made me think that lyrics is not the only way to tell something to people.

My favorite song was Birds on the Wire, 2003. They are about Reading a newspaper, I saw a picture of birds on the electric wires. I cut out the photo and decided to make a song, using the exact location of the birds as notes (no Photoshop edit). I knew it wasn't the most original idea in the universe. I was just curious to hear what melody the birds were creating.
I sent the music to the photographer, Paulo Pinto, who I Googled on the internet. He told his editor, who told a reporter and the story ended up as an interview in the very same newspaper. It was really effective because I did not expected that it will be a lyrics so it was effective.
