Drawbacks
 -biological weapons that harm the entire ecosystem might be created with the purpose of making money. Like the case of resident evil
- mutation might happen anytime where the mutants will conquer the world and take ordinary humans as theri slave. X-men apocalypse.
- some company might make a new bacteria or virus. As they are the ones that make the virus or bacteria, they would have the cure/steps to make a cure for the virus. They wilk spread out the virus and sell the cure to make money

Nowadays population are very high so they need more foods stuff's, which is only possible through genetic engineering. The best example is hybrid banana etc which is available in all session and high amount as well which fulfill the requirements for over population. 
Second, it increase  the production of milk in some animals like in cow due to oxytocin Harmon injection artificially.
Thirdly, it increase the population of different spices like in dog.it also increase the population of different variety in plant trees.
Fourthly, it is good when treated sick people like the production of artificially insulin Hermon treat diabetes.
Drawback.
The first drawback, it is against ethically. Socially and morally.
It increase chance in unbalancing of ecosystem.
The artificially production of genetic engineering is not good for health.
