Characters - Violet, Claus, Sunny, Count Olaf, Arthur Poe, Lemony Snicket

 Setting - United States(does not give info on where and when this took place)

 Conflict - Claus, Violet and Sunny's parents died. Due to this unfortunate event, they have to live with one of their relatives. Arthur Poe, the banker, puts them to live with their closest relative, Count Olaf. Though it may seem just fine, it isn't. Count Olaf is trying to steal their parents fortune that is now in the kid's hands.

Theme - No matter how bad of a situation you are in, you can always find the bright in it.

I felt bad for the Baudelaires as they had to endure the grief of there two parents while having to run away with no guidance. The kids must have had a hard time swallowing the death of their parents and trying to understand why Olaf hated them. As the story goes on, you realize his intentions had reasoning. It made me understand his decisions because I would have felt the same way. 

For both the Baudlaires and Count Olaf, I empathized for both by the end of the story. If the Baudelaires had known the reasoning behind Olaf's actions, the story would have gone a lot smoother, and Count Olaf most likely could have parented them.

This book was most definitely a window for me. It provided me with a big glimpse into the life of the Baudelaires. It was a window because it showed me how they overcame obstacles in their life, and also how to stay positive when in a down situation. Though I am not in a stressful situation currently, it most definitely will happen soon. This book sets an example to readers and shows how the Baudelaires overcame their problems and how you can too!
2. The reason why it isn't a mirror is that they lost their parents and have to deal with grief. I have never dealt with grief so it isn't something I experienced and can sympathize with.
