I looked through all the different presentations that were listed and while all were beneficial in someway or another, the one that I chose was Engaging Hooks. I feel like the majority of teachers in my building have a good grasp on the others, but sometimes starting a lesson with a great hook can be difficult.
Our next staff meeting is scheduled for January 9th and at that time, I will be using this presentation with my teachers. I am going to add a slide at the end where teachers are going to create their own hook, using one of the ideas that we discussed, or one they come up with on their own. It should be for a unit they are going to teach the following week. I want them then to share their hook with the people in their group and the group will share feedback.

Standard Two is all about the ever changing digital world that we live in. With Nearpod, interactive presentations can be created that can be used by school leaders and classroom teachers. Nearpod keeps the presentation engaging. On the administrative side, leaders can use Nearpod for professional development and easily gear it towards only those that need certain skills. You can use it during a staff meeting for something you want the entire staff to have knowledge and access to, or even in a grade level meeting where you can create a presentation that hold essential information just for that particular grade level. It's something that can be adapted by your teachers when they see how simple it is to use and how effective it can be in the learning process. I use nearpod with my students, and I definitely want to use it with my future staff, for not only the professional development pieces, but also in the hopes that they will transfer the learning into their classrooms.

I typically use Safari and Safari does have a page pretty much exactly like this. I was confused at first on how to use the tool, I had to google how to add the sites because I couldn't figure it out.
I do have to tell you that I added in the Weather Channel because my students are doing a research project on different weather phenomenons, so we are using the weather channel to look up weather every day.

In relation to standard one, administrators have a need to promote and inspire a shared vision for technology and the impact it can have on our schools and our students. This tool allows you to have the technology needed at your fingertips for expedited use.
This program could be a great tool for teachers and administrators to have all of their most visited and used websites in a central location for easy access. We are always so busy that it isn't always convenient to type an entire address into the search bar every time we need to visit a website. This tool can be something that administrators have their teachers use for easy access to sites that teachers and/or students should be utilizing. It keeps it comprehensive and readily available. It also can promote conformity within the school or district itself. Just like if you were to go to a school website, they might have links that were important to that school for teachers and students. This chrome extension serves that same kind of purpose.
I'm not exactly sure that I will continue to use this, simply because I like Safari more than I like Chrome. However, when I do use Chrome, I will definitely be using the tabs to be able to quickly get to the most important sites that I visit on a daily basis.

Standard Three and these two resources can go hand in hand. Standard three is empowering educators to stay on top of what is happening in the digital world. These two sites are being added to every minute of every day and you can go online at any time and see what has been added, what has changed, and what's new and interesting.
Personally, I LOVE Pinterest! I think it's a great source where you can find hundreds of thousands of ideas. You can collaborate with other educators from all around the world and see education put into action in ways that you never even thought of before. This standard encourages educators to enhance student learning through the use of their professional learning community. In this digital age, Pinterest makes that easy without even trying. You type in what you want to look for and hundreds of 'pins' pop up. You just have to look through them and decide what you want to use in your classroom and/or school. Pinterest can be a tool that can help create a 21st century classroom for those who are at any level of growing and changing. The ideas are endless.
I use pinterest anytime I want a new idea or a new twist on something that I'm doing in the classroom or in the school. It creates a fun place to 'pin' ideas, wants and needs for you and your students. I can spend hours going through pinterest for new ideas. In a previous district I worked in, they had pinterest blocked, so it made it difficult to look through and use it for resources. Thankfully, my current school district does not have it blocked so I can continue to pull resources from it.

The benefits of using up to date digital age tools in the professional development of staff will always be something that is needed in the world of education. Online articles, videos, links, and presentations can easily be sent out to staff members. This tool can be used as a reflection purpose to see what my staff is most interested in learning about. If I send this link out to my entire staff with short introductions, seeing which one they click the most and develops the most traffic will enlighten me as to what they want to know about the most. Sometimes as leaders we want to drive our leadership in a certain direction that matches our vision. But, there are also times when we need to steer based on what our staff needs and wants as well. I feel like this tool could help with that.
The benefit of using the shortened link is that you can tell how many people actually click on the link to look at the information. The downfall is that you can't tell who clicked on the link. There would definitely be times that you would want to make sure that your entire staff is looking at the information that you are sending out and sharing. I know I've been guilty of getting a link to a website in an email and if I don't open it right then, I'll forget. Then my principal will ask if I looked at it and what I thought and I can't share my opinions because I didn't actually see it. If I were to use this shortened URL, I could at least see a number for how many times the site had been gone to. Then I can use the number of staff members that I sent the link to to 'guesstimate' how many people actually looked at the site. This will help gauge who is reading their emails and who isn't.

In relation to standard 5, Common Sense Media is a site that allows educators and families to enhance student learning through online resources. A major point in this standard is to promote safe and legal use of digital information and the whole idea of Common Sense Media it to do just that.
The idea of having professional development available at our fingertips is nice. Not only is the educational word fast paced and ever changing, but so are our home lives. In most circumstances, every adult in the house is working, some have both parents, some have one. Some students are involved in extra curricular activities before and/or after school and the idea of having to use sources outside of technology just isn't ideal. Common Sense Media provides training for educators and families in the proper use of online resources and how to be safe and responsible.
To be perfectly honest, I didn't fee like this was a great resource. It wasn't the most user-friendly site that I've been to, it didn't have enough lessons to be a meaningful resource, and I just didn't feel excited at all looking through the information. That's not to say that it wouldn't be helpful to other educators, I just didn't feel like it was the most relevant for me to use.

I had never heard of Google Tone before seeing it on the assignment sheet. I like the idea of being able to share the site quickly with those computers around you. It would make it very simple to have the entire staff looking at something together and being on the same page in small groups. I can see this being used in a staff meeting and teachers taking it back to their classrooms and letting students try it out. I think students would LOVE this tool!
I on the other hand feel like it's a little too 'big brother watching' for me. I know that sounds silly, but I don't like leaving my microphone on, or my camera on, on the computer. I have seen too many stories on the news about people being watched and listened to and they don't even know it. I'm not sure it's something I would continue to use, but I do see students thinking this is something that's really cool.

I like the idea of Flip board and having articles that are important to you and the growth of your staff. It's like Pinterest, except for articles and videos rather than ideas and crafts.
I think this would be something that I would use to hold the articles and videos that I want to use for professional development with my staff. The ability to create magazines that will house different topics is great. This could be a vital tool in providing ongoing training, which is essential to standard 3.

Overview - Students can have fun going online to research, play games and find new resources. However, we have to know what is safe and what we should stay away from. Students will realize that they can use the internet to visit far off places and learn new things and compare how staying safe online is similar to staying safe in the real world.
Hook - Ask students to think of somewhere that they would love to go visit and paint a picture in their minds. What do you need to be safe in this place?
Video- Show Video: My Online Neighborhood
Lesson - The same way we have rules to follow that keep us safe when we visit a place, like the zoo, we have rules to keep us safe when we are online. Compare an online trip to a zoo to a real trip to a zoo. How are they alike? How are they different? Computers can let us visit places that we might not be able to see otherwise. But it's important to stay safe online. Students make a list of ways to stay safe in an online site and on a real field trip. They will work in groups and do a carousel (move around the room to different charts to add information).
Wrap Up- use the handouts from Common Sense Media for students to answer questions about internet safety.
