    DiAngelo says, “For those of us who work to raise the racial consciousness of whites, simply getting whites to acknowledge that our race gives us an advantages is a major effort. The defensiveness, denial and resistance are deep” (DiAngelo 26).

    For example, (as a white person) saying that “I don’t see race” is more so destructive because it denies black realities and culture. 

    Another common defense of white individuals is to shift blame to areas where they may be discriminated against (sexism, homophobia, transphobia) and away from the initial race issue.
