A boy ran up behind her and tried to take her purse, he fell on the sidewalk on his back though. The woman turned around and kicked him. The woman is a demanding woman when it comes to little thieves. The boy is ashamed of himself for trying to snatch her purse. The woman asked what did he want it for, he made an excuse saying he wasnt going for the purse. There were 3 people staring at them. The boy is obviously scared because she asked if he would run if she let him go and he said yes. The boy is very sorry for what he had done and regrets it. The woman realizes that the oys face is dirty and asked if he has anyone to clean his face at his home, he said no. The boy was frightened, he looked around 14 or 15 frail and willow wild. The boy wasnt hungry, he just wanted the woman to let him go. The woman wasnt bothering him but he still went to take her purse. We finally learn the womans name, Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones, Mrs. Jones for short. The woman brought him to her house and there was other people living there. She let go of the boy and instead of him rushing out of there, he went to the sink to wash his face. We learn the boys name, Roger. He wondered if she was going to take him to jail, she said not with a dirty face. Mrs. Jones started to think Riger tried to snatch her purse because he was hungry, he said nobody was at his house so the woman offered him to eat at her house. Roger actually tried to snatch her purse for some suede shoes. The door was open and he could run away at ant time, but he didnt because he was interested in what Mrs. Jones what talking about. She was talking about how she wanted something when she was younger like Roger, but she never stole for it. Mrs. Jones believes in god as well. The boy sat down where the woman could see him, he didnt trust her not to trust him. The woman has a job at a hotel beauty shop and it stayed open late, she had many kinds of different customers. She gave him 10 dollars for the shoes he wanted and told him to be good and behave himself. The lesson learned is if you want something you cant get, dont steal for it, because it could end in a horrible consicuence. Ms.Luella Bates Washington Jones-  she is a large women with a big heart and cares for the bad but she is tuff she has pocketbook with lost of thing in it.

Rodger- he is a thief but has no one to help him he is broke and just a kid.

 Summary : The woman was walking alone and the boy came up and tried   to steal her pocketbook but her pocketbook was full of many things as it said in the first part of the story so the weight of the pocketbook and the weight of the boy the pocketbook was heavier than the boy so the boys fell trying to steal her purse or her pocketbook so when he fell he didn't have enough time to get up and start running so the large woman grabbed him by the shirt and I saw that his face was dirty and took him all the way down even though he just tried to steal her purse. she came all the way down to her house and wash your face gave him some money to buy some new shoes and everything and the boy was still thinking about running out the door but he didn't because he wanted to be trustworthy the lady was being very nice to him even though he just tried to steal her pocketbook she asked him why he was trying to steal if he had no one at home. she did not what the boy to leave her house hungry and unpresentable so as I said she fed him told him her name which is Miss Luella Bates Washington Jones in the end she gave him some money to go get him some blue shoes and he never saw her again and his name was Rodger.

SoIution:nstead of taking off full blast as he had hoped, the boy fell on his back on the sidewalk, and his legs flew up. The large woman simply turned around and kicked him right square in his blue-jeaned sitter. Then she reached down, picked the boy up by his shirt front, and shook him until his teeth rattled.
