Throughout this project, I constantly had to be holding the piece in odd angles to carve out my designs and once I turned the piece on its side and the steam started to crack. So, I learned to be very gentle with fresh/wet clay.

I learned that making 3 identical mugs is extremely hard and that making a mug, plate and bowl with simular designs is so much easier and less stressful.

You cannot work with super dry clay because I made all the aloe vera pieces in the beginning and they all dried out before I could use them. Then, when the piece was fired, one piece broke off. I learned that I have to either work faster or preserve my pieces with more moisture.

I learned to take someone else's scraps (Zach's) and make them into a piece of my own.

I enjoyed using all my skills that I have learned throughout the years. This semester I was really able to work on and expand my skills. I liked being a person that my peers turned to when they had questions and most of all I just liked having the privilege of working with clay.

Do not worry if your piece is not 100% like you imagined because you will have plenty of opportunities to surprise yourself. You will never get your piece 100% smooth or symmetrical, but that does not lessen the beauty of your work.

I learned to make sure I am looking at which glaze is the base and which glaze is the top glaze because I switched them for the bowl. My bad.

I learned that making 2 identical pieces on the wheel is extremely difficult.

I learned that letting someone else pick the glaze color is surprising. I thought that the color would be not the prettiest, but I actually really like how the glaze turned out.
