The song I chose was " I want to break free" by Queen. Spain surrendered the colony to France and it became known as Saint- Domingue. Free Slaves went against French colonial rule in Saint-Domingue. I chose this song to represent the enslaved people. They were getting treated wrong and decided to stand up and go against the French rule in Saint Domingue. The lyrics I refer to

He was a French dictator that attempted to take back control at Saint-Domingue a year after Toussiant L' overtune conquered the island. The song I chose is "that boy is mine" by Brandy & Monica.I think that this song relates to when Napolean wanted to take Saint-Domingue back for france. The " boy" in question would be the land.

The song I think that this song fits well because sovereignty is the the authority of a state to govern itself ,and this song and the lyric kind of shows how they do not need anyone and that they are independent and can do it on their own. Mexico and America go to war to take over the land of Texas, and to establish their borders. The U.S wins the war. I think this song and these lyrics fit the Mexican - American war when America won the war. Im sure they were happy that they gained more land and were definitely celebrating.
