Self Awareness
I am highly-motivated, creative, flexible, organized, fast learner with compassionate and friendly attitude.

Emotional Intelligence

I always try to find friendly angle to look at the situations and people, even though at first some situations might be upsetting. I am taking a leading role in many group activities as I prefer to control. I easy adapt to changes. I am aware of my own body language, and in the stressful/negative situations I try to hide my real emotions and remain calm and cold-minded. At the same time, I can recognize body language of other people within professional and personal life. Also, I am empathic and organized which allows me to feel confident.

Values and Culture

Since hospitality industry is an international sector fulfilled with people of different cultures, I am aware of cultural differences and how to behave with people of other cultures, bringing the best of each other for a better performance and team communication. Hence, I am an open-minded person who believes that no matter if we are coming from different places and backgrounds, we are still equal and can learn new from each other. Also, by being aware of self-culture and cultural differences, it can be used powerfully at the work environment – communication with existing customers, creating relevant products/services/marketing campaigns for the potential customer base focusing on how we all perceive reality from different perspectives.

Leadership Style

My leadership style is participative, which is also democratic, meaning that I prefer to engage everyone from the team into the process – each team member can share his/her thoughts (brainstorming session), which would make them to feel that they contribute to the overall result. At the same time, it works as a motivational technique for the others. However, the end decision-making is on me. It should be noted, that this style has a disadvantage of bringing disagreements, whereas it can be a nice ice-breaker for the team and it increases everyone’s ability to go for compromises and find the best sustainable solution to the work. I believe that sometimes it is better just to listen to the others as it allows me to think out of the box and achieve more than if would generate ideas or work alone. This leadership style leads to higher productivity and improves creativity and personal skills of each team member.

Personality and Skills

My main personality traits are devotion to the work – no matter what I do, I give all myself to that; being straight-forward that allows me to maintain relationships with people and feel confident at the workplace; conscientiousness that allows me to be organized and on time, which is important for the work; and openness for new experience and opinions – seeking to try new. However, sometimes I expect too much from myself, and it might lead to disappointment in the end – this can be tricky as sometimes it makes me motivated and seeking to gain knowledge and improve the skills, however, sometimes it frustrates me and I feel lost and demotivated.

I am really good at problem-solving as I am creative and learning how to think of the box to come up with innovative ideas, communication, teamwork, negotiations and organization. I am currently working on developing an ability to work under the pressure as I cannot deal with stress time to time.

1. What is the role of a mentor in your opinion

Mentor is an expert in the field who shares his knowledge and experience depending on the formal of communication and relationship between mentor and mentee. The mentor provides emotional and professional support, helping a mentee to find his own path in the life, including both personal and professional aspects.

2. What would your personal benefits be, from being a mentee?

My personal benefits from being a mentee is to get a different perspective on my case/situation/self-development plan from an expert. It is about receiving an advice or wisdom, providing an ability to learn and think out of the box. At the same time, mentor can help out with the professional journey map in setting goals and small actions to get closer to the main aim. For me, it is kind of scaring to just go with a flow, I have to have a structured plan and actions. Also, it boosts confidence and self-esteem as I would feel more acknowledged of the industry and my own destiny.

3. “What’s your plan?” Make a timeline of your professional journey over the next 5‐10 years. What do you want to accomplish in 2, 5, 7, 10 years? How would a mentor assist you with your development

I do not have a specific plan for my professional journey over the next 5-10 years because I am still exploring myself, however, I still have some points to highlight to be achieved:

- In 2 years: I am planning to get a starting managerial position, continue learning new things, including languages, gaining experience and working with experts in the industry.

- In 5 years: I am planning to supervise a big department, continue training and be more competent for the bigger position. At the same I want to travel and explore the world to see more opportunities for myself, maybe transferring to another location.

- In 7 years: get more competent, looking for new opportunities, becoming a real expert in the industry, automating some processes and implementing innovations for a better operation of the team.

- In 10 years: to become a General Manager of the big hotel chain or open up a business myself after gaining an experience required to avoid potential risks and failure.

Starting a business or having a power over the department/organization does not mean being a good leader. In general, leader is a person who guides, supports his team and delegates the work to the workers – they follow him. Nevertheless, there are differences between leader and manager. Manager is a person who have people working for him and giving the commands to them. Moving back to leadership, I did a task the result of which is attached. The situational leadership helps to adjust to any situation that might occur in the workplace. There are four styles included in the situational leadership, the first style is related to directing in order to create a move, the second one is coaching for worker who is already of the task but requires some support, the third is supporting just to keep an eye and the last one is delegating when workers have almost a full authority of the task. These styles can be converted into autocratic, democratic, equal and laissez-fair. Personally, I prefer democratic style to be close to the team members and to control the situation fully.

In my past working experiences, I did experienced a conflict which was caused by misunderstanding due to a lack of communication and experience. If the communication would be more effective as well as if I would receive a proper induction and training in the beginning, the issue could be avoided.

Conflict management takes care of eliminating negative aspects of the conflict, focusing on the reasons of the conflict and resolutions of it. It is essential to understand the reasons of the conflict in order to prevent repetitive affect. Generally, having a conflict at the workplace results in worse business performance, but once it is resolved and people find a common ground, it reflects on profitability of the business and allows manager/leader to learn what is going on the in the team which is required for further improvements.
