Marie Antoinette spent the country’s money and King Louis did nothing to stop it. King Louis never showed concern for the country’s problems and turned a blind eye whilst Lords, nobility and clergy unfairly taxed peasants. The country was starving and peasants could not pay for bread, yet King Louis showed no concern, leading to the peasants bringing him down. He also believed he had the right to do however he pleased and that his authority to rule came directly from god. They deserved to die because of how little they cared for their people.
     However, I do believe that King Louis and Marie Antoinette were not entirely to blame. Their mistakes could’ve easily been altered if only they had the proper guidance. King Louis was inexperienced as a King and was constantly being manipulated, this was not his fault. Marie Antoinette was married as a teen, she was inexperienced and she only knew a life of luxury. Living lavishly was her way of life, she should not be blamed, this was how she was raised.

He abused his power and should have known much better to do so, considering the fact that he comes from a royal family. Louis XVI never took consideration into the perspectives of the citizens of France, and was too indulged in his wealth and power; leading the country to a terrible bankruptcy.

Unlike Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette was more strong-willed than Louis XVI - making Louis XVi a weaker monarchy. Louis XVI was clearly less experienced than Marie Antoinette. Marie Antoinette had more potential than Louis XVI and could exceed everyone's average expectations of her.

The monarchy was oblivious to the starvation around them even though this was almost all of the population. The monarchy, the clergy and the nobility were living amazing lives while the peasants were earning nothing for their hard work. They also believed that they had the right to do what they wanted to do from god which is unfair because what they did didn't help anyone but themselves. They weren't bothered to see how the peasants were handling life, instead having the time of their lives when peasants were dying of starvation.
It wasn't entirely their faults because they were young and inexperienced when it came to ruling a country.

The main factor contributing to their downfall was the fact that they spent money like it grew on trees, and that too on unnecessary luxuries. The money they spent wasn't even THEIRS!! It was the peasant's hard-earned money that they had worked for and the King and Queen were there squandering it all away. 

They were not very politically savvy and had very little experience of ruling as they got married as teens and were extremely young and naive. Whilst they were having baths in strawberries and pulling their pants down for fun, the peasants had their pants falling down because they didn't have enough to eat and they were living in tiny shacks, eating grass. 

Unfortunately, this continued for a long time until the peasants put their foot down and said "NO!" I believe this due to the fact that they were not mindful of others and only thought about themselves rather than others. The King and Queen would always listen to the nations problems yet never even attempt solving them. In conclusion, I think their deaths were their faults, if they ruled the country properly this wouldn't have been the result.

He owned the most important role: being a king. This role blinded him. He only cared about himself, so he collects everyone's taxes and use it to build a gigantic palace. That wasn't the end of it, he kept extending the palace. Also, king Louis should've been more mature and have better leadership. One thing that he could've done is to live in the villages and as a peasant for at least a week. This should have given him second thoughts about the peasants and his foolish leadership.

On the other hand, I think Marie Antoinette didn't deserve to die. She was only 15 years old when she became queen, so she barely had any experience. But, just like king Louis, she was blinded with money. She did consider some of the peasants. She built a "play village" for her self and several peasants. The thing is, what she built wasn't how the peasants homes looked like. They were bigger and more sturdy than the peasants' actually houses. Her building a play village tells us that she wasn't ready to become a queen. If you waited at least five more years and given a chance for her to live as a peasant, she would've been a better leader than king Louis the 16th.

But the point here is not whether they deserved it or not. the point was to end monarchy and the rule of one person over all others. How else would the French people accomplish this without showing that they were not afraid of killing the king?

Other countries would have probably not have transitioned from absolute monarchies into more democratic forms of government had the message not been clear as this. Or do you think they could have?
