Thoreau believes it is not to late to rebel or stand up for what is right. The right to refuse the government while they are not doing right. Protesting is the solution. Protesting in the real word is not always effective, it ends in violence and sometimes has no affect.

In this quote, Thoreau says that in a government that is corrupt the way it is, the only place for a true man is also in a prison. He says this because being in prison means that a good man has protested and had been arrested for standing up for what is right. In the real world, it would draw attention to the situation if an arrest happened but to make a big statement and impact people, many arrest would probably need to take place

Thoreau basically says that the government is better when they are not involved. In the long run, especially in today's time, some people would need the governments assistants. In the second quote he says he is not asking for no government but just a better one. He also talks about being a real man is doing what is right and have the right to do so.
