Write a response in which you identify at least one pro and one con of progressivist education. Does the good outweigh the bad? Can you see yourself teaching at a progressive school? Why or why not? In addition, be sure to maximize your grade by adding any visuals that support your points and be sure to comment on classmates' thoughts.

I think a pro of Progressivist Education would be that you are kind of on your own and can do things on your own while also having a hands on working environment. A con of Progressivist Education could be the student not understanding what they are doing and not asking questions because they could be afraid of being wrong or just asking for help which can lead to them getting a lot of things wrong or not being allowed to wrap their heads around the curriculum they could be working on. I would in some ways want to be a progressivist teacher like allowing the students to be independent and work at their own pace, have their creativity, but I would also want to be there to teach them new material so then when it comes the time to do it on their own they understand how to do it and can still come to me and ask questions if needed.

A pro in Progressive education is it allows students to have hands-on experience in their education. However a con of progressivism education is that the possibility of students falling behind is more relevant. Since the students have control over their curriculum and assignments they may choose to not participate as much as a student in perennialist education would. I do believe that the good outweighs the bad because it appears that students have a better education when they are more interested in the subject. Although I do enjoy a good structured classroom I agree with the progressive education view on typical school can be too rigid. I want to be able to educate students to be good Learners as well as good people in general. By focusing on the whole child instead of just the curriculum the progressive teachers are moving away from the traditional style of Education.

One pro of progressivist education is that it allows students to work together and be doing hands-on activities which can motivate them to want to learn. One con of progressivist education is that if students need more direction to learn better than it will be difficult for them to keep up and be independant. I believe that the good does outweigh the bad because it allows students to have more control of their learning and be independant which will help them later in life. I could definatly see myself teaching at a progressive school because I love engaging with students and doing hands-on activities that will help them learn.

A pro of Progressive Education is allowing kids to be themselves and be creative. They are learning in their own way and get to explore new things creatively. A con of progressive education is students may be to free. In some cases they may not be learning anything and only having fun and that can get out of hand. I believe that in some cases the good can outweigh the bad because students don't want to have to sit still in class all day getting lectured. Most students want to get out of their seats and communicate with other students. I could see myself working in a progressive school because I am a very fun and positive person. I believe that my fun spirit will rub off on students and allow them to learn and enjoy class.

A pro for progressivist education would be the students being able to grow as people and students. They will be learning how to problem solve that they will be able to use further on in their life. In this educational environment students are also allowed to be more themselves and interact with the students around them. One con of the progressivist educational environment could be the student not getting enough help or guidance from the teacher that they need. If a student is falling behind the teacher might not be able to catch it because the student is working with other students and might be using them for help instead of the teacher.

A pro of progressive learning is that the student is able to make choices and do what they enjoy. When a student is passionate about what they are learning, they are able to comprehend the topic much easier. These students are able to freely express themselves and they have fun in school.
A con of progressive learning is that sometimes too much freedom is not beneficial. If a students has the freedom of choices, they may take advantage of that and choose the easiest project rather than pushing themselves to the next level.
Overall, I think that progressive education is a good idea, but it may not be as beneficial to all leaners as the founders had hoped. Some students may thrive in a school with choices and hands on work, while other students may need the structure to keep them on track.

As an individual and student who learns better when I am obtaining the knowledge at my own pace, I believe the progressivism approach is important in the classroom. Definitely a pro to a Progressivist Education is that the students are stress-free, as they don’t have to do the work all at once. For instance, in most of my classes this year, the teachers assign the work, but allow the students complete it over a certain time-line. This enables the students to obtain the information when they deem it’s the right time. However, a con appears during this. If a teacher grants their students more freedom to explore and produce their assignments and knowledge on the topic, the students may abuse their privilege and not produce the work.

A pro about progressivism is that it allows creativity of students, teachers and schools to shine. Being creative allows for so many different opportunities.
A con about progressivism is students may feel like they have too much freedom. I would personally not want my students to overstep and take advantage of me. Although there may be a few cons, I believe that the pros do outweigh the cons and that I could certainly see myself working at a progressive school and in a progressive environment.

Pro- There are many pros for a progressivist education, but one is it allows students to be creative and take a little more control over their education. Letting students be creative will always have a positive outcome. It lets students show teachers what they can do with the information, in a way that they're good at. Maybe one student really loves art, so they make an art project about the topic and maybe one student really loves doing slideshows. Letting students chose how to present the information and get creative with it will better their understanding of the topic and show the teacher how much they know. And having a control over your own education can definitely help you learn better, it teaches you to be responsible as you won't have someone constantly reminding you to do your work when you have a job. It also allows students to ask new questions and even better explore those questions. Allowing students to explore questions they have will help them grow as a student and will help better their education. Whereas if they couldn't explore these questions, it could stunt their learning.
Con- I don't think there's many cons to progressivism as I think this style of teaching can be really beneficial. I think they only time there would be a con would be focused on the students. Having more control over your education is a great, however there are always those students who will take advantage of this and just not do their work entirely. Students might abusive this policy and wait until the last minute to submit an assignment that they only gave a little bit of effort on. Overall this will stunt the students learning again, because they are not taking advantage of this opportunity to learn differently.

Pros: In my opinion, there are so many positive attributes of a progressive education. The relationships built between the teacher and their students seem much more surreal and important than conventional teaching. Students have much more freedom and leeway in how they learn, what they learn and the pace that they learn. Classrooms are a very comfortable environment for students and they learn hands on, making things much more fun. I think progressive education will help mold children into independent, unique and brilliant people.

Cons: I don't see many cons when it comes to progressivist education. I do have fear that children may abuse the privilege and freedom they have. Although, I can not make that assumption due to not being exposed to a progressive classroom my entire life.

I could definitely see myself being a progressive educator. When I learn about this teaching style, everything seems so relaxed and cooperative. When I am an educator, I want to supply the most comfortable, fun and safe learning environment as possible for my students. I think teaching with progressive education strategies, that would be possible.

pros: students learn at their only pace and when the work in groups they are social and engaging in conversation and what they are learning and a comfortable engaging in the content they are learning students may feel more relaxed with sharing with others.

cons:
with the freedom they may misbehave with other students or disrespect the freedom given to them students could maybe think that they are more of an authority than the teacher and some students may not do their work to the best of their ability it may be too active for the students and with being too active they may not want to focus to do their work

Pros:
-students learn hands on
-learning with other students
-one on one with teacher
-class projects/ group work
-learning at their own pace

Cons:
-students taking advantage of the teacher/freedom they have
-it's possible that a students could not like the teaching style and not be able to learn how they'd like

Personally, I could see myself as a progressivist because it's my preferred teaching style. I think It'd be really nice for students to be social and comfortable with one another and as the teacher id want to have some form of a relationship with my students.
