The Trends in Augmented Reality
Key Points:

· Industries like telecommunication, manufacturing, energy where the workforce is scattered to remote areas are already using AR extensively for communication, training etc.

· Healthcare companies are developing AR tools that can be used in the operating room and on the other hand by bringing the virtual elements to the real world for heart implants, birthing methods, and bone printing.

· Even though it’s only the beginning, AR reality is already being tested in schools for classes based on 3D Design, Digital Design, and Animation creation to give the students the enhanced experience of seeing their projects in mixed with real and virtual appearances.

· AR raised $26 million in the span of two months, funding from a group of investors to push AR to the general public.

· In the article, Digi states that- “Capital suggests that AR will be worth a staggering $108 billion by the year 2021.” 2018 (As of now) Is a breakthrough year for AR. It has reached a tipping point where it is looking to explode into homes and the high street.

· The Digital Design groups for Java, Unity, and Gear VR Framework have all joined with the AR Company uSens Inc. to create products like the 26DOF, Fingo, and the recently updated model Fingo SDK 1.3

· Fun Fact: Pokémon GO was one of the first apps in history to utilize AR Reality, so even if you don’t know much about AR, you can surmise from the game that AR is technology that overlays digital images atop the real world.

· Picky clients make things hard, whether they keep changing their mind or give you unrealistic deadlines

· There are designers out there that look for higher demand jobs that are sadly paid less even if they have more talent

· Clients can end up wanting the latest trends and often ask for something that resembles more than they can do

· Multi-tasking such as finding clients, managing your accounts, a whole number of little tasks that eat into your creative time

· Copyright also plays a huge factor into image rights and finding ways to avoid exploitation

· Graphic designers may end up getting behind from the other inventions that are up to date

· Health is also considered, such as poor posture, spinal injuries and chronic pain, even eyestrain or dry eye syndrome

Apple Creates Nine New Emoji’s For Disabilities

· Apple has created a wide array of representations to the disabilities that people don’t notice in public

· Some of the emoji’s include service dog, a deaf sign, a person with cane, and a prosthetic leg.

· The emoji’s will have male and female versions and have different skin tones where appropriate

· Apple has been working with the American Council of the Blind, National Association of the Deaf and the Cerebral Palsy Foundation to develop these new emoji’s.

Current Issues

Being relevant to the culture of Art and Design could be a struggle for some people because most people don’t like “change.”
Change in the software of specific programs could often slow designers down and won’t have memorization of where certain tools are, which could affect their careers.
Another challenge is simply being good at what you do, this field is growing every day and you need to be as creative as possible when making your own work.
As time changes, so does technology. So “humans” must find new ways to use their skill as robots will soon be taking their jobs.
As technology becomes more widely available to the public, many people won’t have to leave their home to go to their job so it would be a good idea for people to make themselves active and interact with the world.

-A project is being started to test the growth of AI and to see if its intelligent enough to basically build itself

-The Grid’s AI, “Molly”, is used to not only create websites, but also five-color palette into the site in over 200,000 different ways

-Despite Molly’s performance and abilities, it suffered notorious backlash from its early beta users. Especially in sites such as Reddit

-A popular website builder, Wix, offered an AI solution: Wix ADI. It creates the website but allows the user to make modifications and also make suggestions

-Another website builder, Firedrop, offers a different approach in regarding to having a Chabot named “Sacha” as a tutorial of the site-building process. Regarding questions, suggestions, and recommendations
