I spent 2 hrs and 45 minutes transcribing/ indexing names of free persons of color in the VA Untold Greensville County land processional and a register of Free Persons of Color, 1796-1863 for the Library of Virginia transcription program. This program is indexing names to make it easier for African Americans to find their ancestors. I indexed 261 names from 10 pages for this project today.

I also spent 3 and a half hours indexing names for the Patriot Records Project for the Daughter's of the American Revolution. This project enables people to locate documents related to their ancestors easier. I indexed 33 documents and 170 names today.

I moved to a small town in Ontario, Canada 3 years ago. I heard that a Holocaust survivor lived here & that she had won the Order of Canada. I wanted to meet her and thank her for sharing her story across Canada & beyond.

Also to thank her for her message of Love & Kindness over hate and for fighting antisemitism. I drove up to her house with flowers & a card & she welcomed me & gifted me with copies of her books. Her name is Eva Olsson. She will turn 100 in October and still drives & lives on her own. Wow!! I will never forget this day!! ❤️🫂 Thank you for the week of Goodness ! Someone at the Israel parade was giving out Cards with Berakhot / Blessings for food upon them. He said "Say the Blessing 'Shehakol Nihya Bidvaro'" for the Saving of the Hostages. Once a rabbi was about to be hung. His captor asked what is his final wish. He said "I want a glass of water." He then said the Berakha before drinking the water of - Barukh ata ...Shehakol Nihya Bidvaro - which means that "Blessed is Hash-m ... that Everything is in His Hands." ie, Only G-d is in Control / Ein Od Milevado - there is none but Hash-m and somehow his captor was killed and he was freed. Apparently - if we have that same Kavana / concentration - we can help the hostages. The week after the parade 4 hostages were released. Berakha cards can be gotton here :

As a wife and mother of two sons and a person who lives with Bipolar I Disorder, managing a household can get pretty difficult sometimes.

In the past, I would expect him to just see and know what was going on and criticize him for not noticing. I can imagine that didn't feel very good inside to him.

Since we've both attended marriage therapy, things have been improving greatly because we are beginning to understand our differences and work together in kind and loving ways that make both of our lives easier not just for us, but for our family.

We deserve שלום in our home. (Yes, that's supposed to rhyme! 😆)

I can't say that I'll get it all done, but I can say I will do my best and apologize if I fail to check all the boxes off in time.

May all the hostages receive their freedom swiftly and experience שלום until that joyful, liberating day.

We’ve been experiencing a massive heatwave in the DC area and my heart has been drawn to set up a couple water stations for the local wildlife. I set up a few shallow basins in the park across from me to help these animals have access to water. Each time I refill, I say a prayer for all the souls being held hostage in Gaza. I pray they maintain hope, I pray for their protection, and send all my love and strength to them. We need to get them home. ✨❤️✨

Giving Class on Evil Eye, Good Eye, and Good Deeds

This summer I started teaching a women's class on various Torah relates topics. This week, we will unpack sources regarding misunderstood notions pertaining to the evil eye in Judaism, and discuss how fear and insecurity can lead to a host of negative thoughts and feelings.

In pointing this out, I hope to instill an understanding about what it means to have an evil eye that leads to jealousy, which can be psychologically damaging for oneself and others, and also convey a message about the evil of becoming caught in blinding illusions of temporary comfort rooted in magical thinking.

More importantly, however, as per Rachel and Jons request, I wish to emphasize the idea of healing a fractured world through doing good deeds. The courage, bravery, and deep sense of hope these two special human beings bring to earth is infectious. I am inspired by them to dedicate my class toward the mission of doing good deeds by being reminded to look at the world as they do- through a good eye.

I brought some treats from my local Kosher grocery store to a friend of mine who is 101 years old. And I visited with her for two hours chatting about everything of interest regarding our synagogue community.

It has been oppressively hot in Richmond, VA, USA these past few days so I decided to buy 116+ water bottles, chill them, and distribute them all over the city in an act of kindness and a reminder of the 116 hostages still being held in Gaza. I gave out water bottles at parks, food pantries, to construction workers, to gardeners— anyone outside who might need some cold water. Water- מים- is essential for life and fighting to bring the hostages home is essential to our collective human soul.

Transcribing for the Masses

On July 17th, I transcribed/indexed 9 pages and 225 names for the Library of Virginia Untold - Free Persons of Color Register for Greensville County from 1700 - 1800 in 2 hours. The person of the indexing is to make it easier for African Americans to find their ancestors. I like to think of it as reuniting people with their families, just as I pray that Hersh is reunited with his family and all the hostages are.

I also indexed 35 documents with 180 names on Patriot Records for the Daughter's of the American Revolution to make it easier for the public to locate their ancestor who served during the Revolutionary War. I am located in Richmond, VA in the US.

I look forward to finding out Hersh's reaction when he learns good deeds were done on his behalf. God Bless the Goldberg-Polin family and all the hostages and their families.

I volunteered at a warehouse where we sorted and cleaned fruits and vegetables and assembled packages for Israeli families in need. I also volunteered on a farm in Ofakim where we helped clean it up so that new produce can be planted and grown. I had all the hostages in mind that HaShem should reunite each and every one of them with their families asap!

I work with woman in the labor rooms. I tell them to pray when in strong labor . It's a very special time to pray! We all.pray for their return very very soon! Alive!!!!

As a catholic woman I pray every day to Virgin Mary for the release of the hostages, for the family reunion... to God, for the strength and hope for those who are suffering this dramatic situation. I walk to my office every morning listening the song My Son, thinking in Hersh, his mom Rachel (God bless her) , his dad and sisters, and all the People that is injustly kidnapped. I share this with my people here in Buenos Aires, Argentina. All my love for you all.

I gave money towards a trip that was not my own, and “chauffeured” a recovering friend to PT and grocery store. We are also traveling 2 hours to perform a Tahara. I love this idea and plan to continue beyond this week! ❤️❤️

I live in NJ and held a parlor show with Israeli Comedian Hani Skutch. She was wonderful. Together we raised money for wounded soldiers in Israel in the merit of the hostages.

I visited an elderly woman, baked cookies for soldiers, brought supplies for soldiers, and say thillim every day. My thoughts and prayers are with the hostages and their families -may all the mitzvot and tfillot storm the heavens and may they return to their families.

I financially supported a lone soldier in the IDF. Also, during my hikes this and past week I try to pick trash in the cointryside and clean the pathways for others. I will bake challah today with thoughts on this project.

The dedication of the new Torah scroll this week made me feel as if the hostages and all of us who pray for them flow between. being the white fire and the black fire of the Torah . Even if devastatingly we can’t see them at this moment they are the white fire that fills the spaces that all of our deeds are written on . We also want the opportunity to support and love them, to be the white fire holding the black fire of each precious, unique , and special one .

I gave charity to a family who needed it this week and commit to praying or reciting psalms this week in honor of Hersh and all of the hostages . Thank you for the week of goodness initiative . Sending you so much love and many blessings.
