Also in line 17 the poet uses a symbol as he says “he lost his color” and he emphasizes that the persona lost his joy of life in the war as Wilfred Owen uses “color” as a symbol which is symbolizing the joy of life of the persona. And in line 6 the poet used the metaphor “ till gathering sleep had mothered them from him” in order to convey pity for the soldier who is disabled and shows the persona to be a monster.
