I would bring the private pair of Joseph and Reuben Field because they were a major asset to the actual Corps of Discovery. They were exceptional woodsmen and hunters, therefore being able to help with a lot of the missions we would have to conduct for our survival. They are also very trustworthy and dependent. I feel that I could trust them if I went on a mission with them.

I would also bring them, because they are very productive. They are also creative. They can make exceptional things out of leftover materials. For example, Joseph made a desk out of rough-hewn boards. They are able to make the best of their situation and the tools they are provided.

Philadelphus Lewisii, AKA, Wild Mock Orange, is a deciduous shrub. This shrub grows quickly to the height of 6 feet tall. There are fragrant, white flowers with an orange center, that grow in May-June. These flowers are 2 inches. These flowers can survive through droughts, full sun, part sun, and can survive in a garden. This flower can be ground up and mixed with oil to be rubbed on sores and swollen joints. This flower can ease a lot of pain the the Corps had to endure on their journey. The Corps must have thought this was a very good plant to discover because it helped them a lot.

The prairie dog is a small animal with different shades of brown fur. They have beady, black eyes, and ears that are squished to their head. They live primarily underground, but they do come out for food and sunlight. Prairie dogs are beneficial to humans because they are a food source for other animals. If other animals eat the prairie dogs, the animals can stay healthy, therefore becoming a food source for the humans. They could also use the fur of the prairie dogs to make sacks and such. I’m sure the Corps of Discovery thought the prairie dogs were very adorable and beneficial to them.

During the expedition, Lewis and Clark and the Corps of Discovery encountered the Tillamook Indian Tribe. This tribe lived on the northwest coast of Oregon. They lived in a series of towns. Along their coast, a whale washed up onto the shore, and the Indians made use of the blubber and kept them as food. Lewis and Clark heard about this, and they moved south to trade with the Indians for blubber. This is how Lewis and Clark and the Indians met. They bargained for the blubber, and for 300 pounds and some oil, the Indians got some good trade goods.

Spirit Mound is located near Vermillion, South Dakota. It’s absolute location is at 42°52'27.1"N 96°57'32.4"W. It is in the midwest region of the United States. It is described as the “hill of little people” and the “mountain of evil spirits.” Spirits that were armed with arrows attacked anyone who came near the hill, but Lewis and Clark never found any of the spirits. They saw bison, a large prairie, and birds flying over the mound. The wind over the prairie led insects to seek shelter on the side of the mound.
