After coming to NC State as a psychology major, not entirely sure of what I wanted to pursue as a career, I went to see my advisor to talk about my new goal of attending PA school and becoming a physician assistant. I changed my major from psychology to biological sciences and never looked back! This program has allowed me to differentiate myself from others by having interdisciplinary perspectives in both psychology and Spanish. I have confidence that this degree has given me the tools I need to become a well-rounded and excellent provider in the future.

The staff are both kind and extraordinarily helpful. I've learned so many critical life skills and expanded my worldview with this program, while also meeting many other similarly passionate people who love biology. I am confident that I will continue to grow my communication and research skills with this excellent program and have absolutely loved the path I took.

I quickly realized that taking the medical route of Biology was not for me, and after taking many classes that hurt my GPA, I decided that I should probably change my major. I wanted something that was still related to Biology, but more flexible than the BS. My advisor had recommended that BA route and I'm so glad they did. My favorite aspect of this major is a concentration that you are allowed to choose. I felt really torn having to pick just one as a major, it felt too final for me. In my eyes the BA was the only acceptable choice because it meant that I could not only get a biology degree but also spend a ton of credit hours on other subject areas that really interested me, like conservation. I came planning to get my BS in Zoology and quickly discovered that I did not enjoy having such a math and science heavy workload. I also felt like I was missing out because there were so many courses outside of science that I wanted to take but couldn't. Switching to the BA gave me enough flexibility to take classes I actually enjoy while still getting my grad school pre-reqs done.
