When I became a new teacher, she wrote a poem about caring for kids. She also drew a beautiful picture of a child’s face. That was twenty five years ago. I still have it hanging in my classroom. Heidi Jahn

Lori always incuraged me to do my best and told me art was what i made of it. I now teach art to my students at job corps and tell them the same thing. She was a wonderful teacher and a great influence in my life. Thank you mrs. Chaplin

She is the most wonderful person and art teacher. She was the only teacher that would stop and figure her students out didn’t matter who you were. And most teacher didn’t take time to get to know their students like Ms Chappy did. She was my favorite teacher because of it. I also couldn’t wait until my daughter got to have her for a teacher too. And she didn’t let me down, Vanessa loves her just like I did. Thank you for being there and being the wonderful teacher that you are. Hope you enjoy your retirement.

We were so lucky to have the experience of having a kind, accepting, and loving soul like Mrs. Chaplin allow us to have a creative outlet during the day. She made me believe I could create when I doubted myself. Thank you for the influence that you had on my life in the classroom and community! I'm so excited for you and hope that you enjoy your well-deserved retirement! <3

Many favorite memories of high school were in the art room because Mrs. Chaplin created an environment you just wanted to be a part of. She treats her students as people, not just kids. I respect her so much as a person and as an educator. Her knowledge of her craft is insane, she always knew what to say or how to help whenever I was stumped on a project. She’s one of the best, I miss her and the sanctuary she made for us. Thank you for being amazing Mrs. Chaplin.

Lory Chaplin might not have been a stalker, even though she followed me from elementary school through high school, but she definitely was a good art teacher. Her driving skills are a touch sketchy though.

Someone has some big shoes to fill next year for sure! Lori Chaplain was not only an awesome art teacher, she was a mentor, a role model and it is very obvious her passion was working and being around young people. Her connection with her students is unfortunately becoming almost extinct with today’s educators. I wasn’t good at art, but like everyone else, took art just so I could be in her class. I wish you the best in your retirement and Davis County is truly going to miss you!

I still have a painting you did of me with a very touching note on the back. You are an amazing teacher, roll model and friend who got me through some of my toughest times. She was the only teacher who let me be me. When I everyone was doing the same thing I would be off in left field doing my own thing and she would look at my project and tell me she loved it and encourage me. I wish all kids could have a teacher like her.

I was not Mrs. Chaplin’s student; in fact Lory was my student and later on a good friend! But I knew from the moment she started teaching that she was not going to be ‘just another teacher,’ she was going to be a great teacher. Lory, you’ve had such a positive impact on so many young people’s lives. I know you will miss it, but nowadays you can keep in touch with so many of these people for years to come and I can’t tell you how much you are going to enjoy that (and also the option of sleeping in when you want). Mrs. Chaplin has introduced me to art and I couldn’t be more thankful. I never knew that art could become such a big part of my life but throug all the classes and projects I have come to love art and all it offers. I thank Mrs. Chaplin for all she taught me throughout the years. I will forever remember our long talks as I worked on various projects in my study halls. She constantly showed us all of her Pinterest ideas! One time they tried blocking Pinterest but Mrs. Chaplin wouldn’t have it. She got after us for paint in the brushes and tables left unclean, but she is one amazing teacher that I will never forget. Thank you for everything Mrs. Chaplin!
