Your job is to choose one book. Just one. $:^ ) Any book you want. What book would you read to a child? Place a ten sentence explanation (a paragraph) of why this book is so great into this padlet.

As always put your name at the end of your paragraph like this: Billy Bob 6A (or 6B or 6C if that’s you)

I would read a child Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Suess. The book teaches students rhyme and the tricky verbs called modal auxiliaries. For example, the word 'would' is a modal auxiliary. The modal auxiliaries teach a future verb tense that is super important. Kids also love the pictures-- and it's fun to read! Each page is kind of like a tongue twister if you read quickly all of the things the protagonist doesn't want to do. Sam-I-Am is so positive, while the unnamed protagonist is quite cynical. I believe Dr. Suess was hoping children would try new foods-- before they decide they don't like something based on the way it looks! A fun fact is that Dr. Suess is what we call a nom de plume-- or pen name. The author's real name is Theodore Giesel. Warren 6ABC

Diary of a Wimpy Kid

Diary of a Wimpy Kid:

I chose this series of books because this is the best series of books besides goosebumps. But goosebumps is kind of scary for little kids I think. But the diary of a wimpy kid is completely different. I would read this book to my or whatever child so they can know how good and cool this series of books is. Plus this is a long book that you may need to read for 1 month or even more. This will make the kid go busy and interested in the book and books in general. Plus every chapter has a bit of suspense in it, so if I would get into the suspense past I wouldn’t tell the kid what happens. So he gets even MORE interested in the book. The book tells anecdotes of when Greg the main character, and literally the book is actually written by Greg. It’s his “diary”.

Marcelo Hernandez 6A

Dr Seuss is one of the most famous authors of children's books of all time. For me, the Lorax stood up the most. In general all of the Dr Seuss are good for children's because the books give many life lessons to children's. One of those reasons is that the book includes sounds that repeat very often throughout the book. A child who is learning to read is learning to connect the sounds that go with letters so that he can then put them together to make words. Repeating sounds frequently throughout the book help the child master the skill and help developed their speaking abilities. The Lorax is one of my favorite children's books of all time because of the message it sends out a very heart touching message to all of the younger audiences in a very funny way. The Lorax is based on the problem of cutting trees and making pollution in the world. It also gives us in a way a warning of how the world is going to turn out if we don't do something. Also the characters are very cute and funny. Caro 6B

I would definitely read the little prince to a child, the little prince shows how you don’t have to be small to have imagination and optimism. Also, the book discusses how children can change the world by being a kid, optimist, playful and joyful. On how the little prince searched on how to get back with his rose, his best friend. Also, the little prince’s sheep, even though the sheep was in a box, the little prince could imagine a nice little sheep. On how the “airplane” pilot saw how the little prince acted, a curious and joyful prince. Reading this book to children may remind them, kid or an adult, imagination can never end. As the little prince said, “this is very simple; It’s with the heart what people can see rightly, the essential is invisible to the eye. Cata Grauzas 6A

I would read this book to a kid because even though it’s a chapter book, it has the point of view of a kid. The whole book is about how the kid feels and how sometimes you really need to be strong and persistent in difficult moments such as in school, or even in a family problem. This book, if you read it in parts, the kid will easily understand and maybe even put himself in the character’s shoes. They could notice how similar they are as kids, or the differences they experience. The book is about how a girl called Mamie that send carts to this astronaut calles Michael Collins, and how Mamie send a card almost every day or so explaining her day. Michael collins never responded until the very end, which made Mamie really happy. Mamie explained how her family was having some problems at the beginning and how she was always having fun with her best friend. She always thought positive things and always tried to be in a good mood in very hard situations that she was going through. This book in my opinion will be a great book for kids because it will show them how there’s always a bright side to everything. To always persist and never give up. Regina A 6C

In this part when they created dog man shows that don’t matter how you want to use your imagination, use it as a kid your imagination is one of the most important, cool and funny which makes us kids. This book really uses comedy, and that is the most cool of this book and also shows that dont matter how tall, ugly, cool, happy, grumpy we are, we are a community to help each other. Dog man goes into a super fun fantasy land, which is full of fun and that’s why this book it’s perfect for kids. It even has movement in most of the books you turn the page and is so cool you even get in the book. I recommend kids this book so much it’s one of my funniest books for kids is awesome.

I chose Wacky Wednesday to read to a kid because the imagination of a kid is full of strange things, for example a dinosaur that is real and other stuff. The protagonist is suffering the Wacky Wednesday and each time appears more and more wacky stuff. Besides the book is not hard to read, most of the book vocabulary are 1-grade words that makes Wacky Wednesday a great book to read. What I consider the cherry in the cake is that along the book the protagonist Is finding more and more wacky things and is inviting the reader to go and find the wacky stuff hidden in the illustrations, that is the magic of this book. Is making a connection with the reader, also the whole book is a poem made by one of the best authors ever, Dr.Seuss.
David 6B

In this book Piggie and Gerald make a new friend and they play with him. Just as the other stories in this book include only dialogue , that is a great thing because since a kid , the kid can start to see dialogue knowing what it is , it helps even better when you see the bubble they talk about. This is the best for kids because it teaches you mainly to be a good friend , to not only play with your best friend but to play with someone you don’t know is good because later you can have an awesome friendship. This book is the best because it’s entertaining . It entertains you in the funny parts like when the bubble of Piggie like goes big or like when they are angry , it is pretty cool.

José M. Also another reason why I would read a kid Piggy and Gerald, is because it has a lot of drawings. I mean more drawings than words. Kids like better drawings than words. Green Eggs and Ham is also excellent for kids to learn how to read, there are very simple words but at the same time it would be challenging for all those young kids.

Piggy and Gerald is a series of books about two friends, and the books are easy to read and are a “baby book”. The book Listen to My Trumpet is about Piggy (the pig) playing the trumpet to Gerald (the elephant), but piggy sounds terrible. When Piggy asks Gerald how she sounded, Gerald tells Piggy the truth, and piggy tells Gerald she wanted to sound like him. This books contains good examples for children’s like tell the truth and you can be inspired by your friends.

-Iahn 6C

I would read this book because of the primary moral lesson learned from “The Three Little Pigs” is that hard work and dedication pay off. The first two pigs quickly built homes in order to have more free time to play. But the third pig labored in the construction of his house of bricks. Compared to the other two pigs, the third pig’s extra effort paid off in the end. He wasn’t eaten by the big bad wolf. And it’s very cool because it teaches kids to work hard and never give up. Another moral that it teaches u is Be Patient – The third little pig is nothing if not patient, a somewhat. Building a career, company, relationship, or in the case of our protagonist, a house, takes time. The third little pig was deliberate and patient and his reward for his patience was to get away with his life. That is cool for kids to read because it finally teaches them to be patient and don’t get everything at the same instant and I think it’s it’s even a lesson for adult person who has a bad mentally of getting things fast and never being patient. Alex 6A

By: Robert Munch

I would totally read this book to a kid. This because it has a perfect combination of humor like funny scenes and lessons or morals the kids can look up for. In one scene the paper bag princess taunts the dragon to run around the world more than once. Proving my point of funny humor. Plus another scene later in the book proves my point of lessons and morals. Ronald didn’t wanted to marry the princess because of her messy clothes, Elizabeth wasn’t happy with this and said the following... “Your clothes are really nice and your hair is really pretty. You look like a real prince but you are a bum.

6C Roberto Treviño

China wants to ban this book because they say that green eggs and have is like a food in China and it’s like a insult doing a book about that. But in my opinion I say that this book is a little wired with the things that happened like they crash to the trees and more things like that are not for kids.

The best book to read to children is definitely Love You Forever by Robert Munsch. The book Love You Forever expresses unforgettable feelings and lessons. One of them is how your parents show their love for you, it helps children understand that they are the most important person for their parents. This makes me think that, because when her mom was already old, and the son was a grown-up man, her mother still sang her the same song. As the kid grows into a child, his life circle begins, because at the end of the story it all repeats, now the son is a grown man, he sang her old mother the song that she always sang to her son when he was little. Which is “ I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, as long as im living my baby you’ll be.” that song makes me think that our parents will always be there for me, but so I will. Adults can also relate to this book because the story shows how the children grew into a teenager. And parents also went through that age. That’s why, this book is not only for children, but it is also for every age, and everyone will enjoy this book. My favorite moment it’s at the end where the grown-up man went to her baby daughter’s room, and he sang the same song her mother sang him since he was little. Love You Forever is like the circle of life, that the story will definitely be enjoyable for children and adults. Regina Martinez 6B

The best book you could read to a kid is ovbiously Little Kids First Big Book of Animals by Catherine D. Huges and National Geographic. This book is the best since it is nonfiction but also has a sense of humor. Kids will learn everything animals, from the cheetah to the emperor penguin to their habitats. This book can also be really entertainig since it’s full of giant pictures of animals. The book is sectioned into 5 sections, grassland animals, ocean animals, dessert animals, forest, and finally polar animals. This book also includes big letters so that way it is easier for children to read. It also haves fun activities according to the animal the author is talking about! For example, in the cheetah section, you can find a text bubble that says “can you count the number of times the word cheetah appears in this story?” And in the whale section, where Huges is talking about how whales eat, there is a text bubble asking “Do your parents pour your spaghetti through a strainer when it has finished cooking?” You can aslo find side to side comparisons of baby animals and fully grown up animals. Little Kids First Big Book of Animals is the best book to read to a little kid.
Sofi Harris 6C

I would read this book to a child because it is easy to understand and it teaches a lesson. This book talks about a bird that doesn’t have a mom, one day he decided that he was going to find her. He goes around all the town asking every animal if they were his mom but he couldn’t find her. At the end a bear sees him crying and invites him to her house. There she presented him to her sons they were all different kinds of animals. She asks him if he wanted to be part of her family and he happily accepted. The lesson here is that it doesn’t matter who or how you are a family doesn’t have to be all the same what matters is that they care about you. Another lesson is to appreciate your family and that they are in your life. When was young I loved this book and read it all the time. My mom would always read it for me and if she couldn’t I would just watch the drawings. I think it a great children’s book.
Liza Garza 6C

This is a really fun, creative, and entertaining book, it can make you pass a fun time while you read. Plus I really identify with this book, because it was my favorite book from age 6-7. This book also give you good quality’s life lessons on a creative way such as good friendship, respect, persisting, etc. A great example I found for persisting and a good friendship is when piggy is telling Gerald he can pretend and Gerald is giving up but piggy is just doing it until she got it. This is teaching how they have a good friendship because piggy is trying to help out Gerald And it is also making him persist and don’t give up.
- Marijose Ruvalcaba

I would read this book to a little kid because it is educative and fun to read. This means children are learning and having fun at the same time! This book teaches kids about Africa's wildlife. For example you can learn about predators and preys. It also teaches kids about different wild animals like cheetahs
lions, elephants, monkeys, and much more. I would also read this book to a kid because it has an easy vocabulary. This book uses very simple and understanding vocabulary, for example in a NatGeo book of african wildlife, you would find a lot of complicated vocabulary that kids usually don't understand. But in this book it is easy for kids to comprehend this words. So as a conclusion I recommend this book to a child or a toddler, because you can learn a lot of impressive things and you can have fun at the same time.

-- Fernanda Mtz. The hook was that they where behind the rock and when piggy for example went to the other side of the rock so did Gerald. It was entertaining seeing how they moved, and couldn’t find each other. There was something fun about being smarter than a book. But at the same time the book has talking animals so...

The book Are You Ready to Play Outside, by Mo Willems, is a great book to read to a child. It’s so much fun to read this text, and kids would enjoy this book because of all the fun and silly scenes the book presents. One scene of the book shows Piggie (the pig), and Gerald (the elephant), wanting to play outside, but suddenly it starts raining and Piggie gets mad. This scene will make kids laugh because of Piggie’s silly behavior, but that is not the only funny scene, there are a lot of more scenes including Piggie’s and Gerald’s actions. Kids would have fun reading this book, but they would also learn a little lesson about their daily lives. One scene of the book shows little worms playing happily in the rain, then Piggie tries to play in the rain and she loved playing in the rain, this would teach kids that they shouldn’t judge something before trying it out. This book is a great text for kids to read because they could emphasize and connect their daily lives with scenes of the book. For example, one scene of this book shows Piggie upset because the rain had stopped, so Gerald goes for water and splashes Piggie water through his trunk; Piggie gets excited and starts playing in the rain, then she says, “Elephants make the best friends,”. Kids would emphasize and think about their friends, this would teach kids that friends are always there to help. The book Are You Ready to Play Outside is a great and fun book for kids, there are many silly scenes, and even some of them teach a little lesson. —Alejandra De La Fuente 6B

Sharing is important for the little to know about. They need to be nice to others even though other people aren’t nice to them. If little kids know that their friend(s) are feeling sad, they need to go and cheer them up. Just like Piggy did ti Gerald from page 48 - the end of the book. If kids read this book they will care about their friends and they will see the importance of sharing. Should I Share My Ice Cream is good for kids because the book is fun, kids can learn from the book and it always leaves a nice message for everyone who’s reading it. Ilse Ceballos 6C

CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS AND THE PERILOUS PLOT OF PROFESSOR POOPYPANTS

This book is a good read for children because it’s weird, wacky humor is enough to keep kids reading for hours at a time and encourages reading and spending time reading instead of sticking their noses inside their screens. This book contains words that are a bit of a challenge for kids, so to keep reading, children will try and find the meaning of this certain word, making the child stretch his vocabulary without even noticing it. Also, this book contains little Easter eggs, encouraging kids to reread and try to pay attention to smaller details, making them concentrate better on future tasks and pay attention to details for the probability of little fun surprise.

#3, Pablo Castilleja, 6B

And that very kiss will jump to your face and fill you with toasty warm thoughts".
Also the character in the book learns to have confidence in himself that it does not matter if your family is not with you, you can make new friends and have fun, families will always be there for you.

Gabriel Gonzalez 6C #9

Children's book A book I would read to a little kid would be “Don't Let The Pigeon Stay Up Late!” from Mo Willems. I chose this book because i remember in first grade my teacher read a book from mo willems every class meeting, and i remember that this book in specific taught me a lesson. I always saw the pigeon as me and the narrator as my parents and friends, and when they teach the pigeon the lesson to not stay up late I listen to the lesson they told the pigeon and how to make it happen, and include it in my real life.

“In My Heart” by Jo Witek is a perfect book to read for small children because it would be very entertaining for them. For example, this book has colorful hearts that are touchable so kids not only read the book, but also have fun experimenting the unique feels. This book also talks about controlling your emotions which is a topic little kids are still working with. Because of this, it would be relevant for them to read the book. For example, in the end it says “My heart can feel so many emotions and yours can too!” This shows that the book teaches kids useful information they find amazing. In addition to this, there are many fun illustrations throughout the writing every kid would be obsessed with. Even better if they are rainbow! Little kids love visuals so they will definitely be interested. Because of all these reasons, “In My Heart” would be a perfect book to read for small children.
-Andrea Fdz 6B

The dot written by Peter H. Reynolds is a wonderful book, and it’s great to read to kids. This is the story of a girl vashty that thinks she doesn’t know how to paint. But her art teacher makes her do a dot on a paper and sign it. The next art class she sees her painting on the wall. Then she gets inspiration and starts making better dots. Dots of all colors and sizes. When he is exhibiting his work on the art exhibit. A boy comes to him and says that he wished he could paint like him but that he can’t even paint a straight line. Vashty makes her do a line and sign it. Vashty did the same her teacher did to him. This book shows that we can do what we want like paint or write or play soccer. And that we all are creative. This book would be great for little kids because it teaches them something and at the same time it can be really fun reading this book.

By: Diego Arenas

The book that i would read to a young child would be interrupting chicken. This is a story of a papa chicken telling stories to his little chicken. But there is a catch! The little chicken always interrupts the story and changes it to end very quickly. Which makes the papa chicken very mad. One of the stories that the papa chicken says is hansel and gretel, in which you probably know the story. Before Hansel and Gretel go to the witch's house the chicken interrupts and says that they both shouldnt go and Hansel and Gretel don't. Which makes papa chicken very mad. And the papa chicken keeps telling stories until something happens. Papa chicken starts getting very drowsy and doesn't want to tell another story and tells the little chicken to tell a story to papa chicken. So, he makes a story and makes papa chicken sleep. In which in this part the story ends. I think kids should read this book just because it is lots of fun and it teaches to not be anxious because you will probably make people sad and mad.

Sebastian manuel valdes barreto 6B #22

The book I would read to a child is “My New Friend Is So Fun!” by Mo Williams. This book has the characters that almost every kid likes: Piggie and Gerald. Although it is about Piggie and Brian Bat becoming good fiends, it’s also more about trusting your friends and the people you love and worry about. When I was little I loved this book because it involved new characters that are also as funny as the original characters. The book starts with Gerald and Snake suddenly worrying that their best friends, Piggie and Brian Bat, will leave them. After that they went to warn them to stop having fun, only to find out they were making drawings of each of their best friends. The funny and creative pictures would make kids love this book even more, not to mention the random sentences with all caps like “I DO NOT WAN’T TO LOSE MY BEST FRIEND” and the sudden mood changes that some of the characters have. I think kids would love this story of best friends, and with its simple words they might even relate the story to things that have happened in their own lives. Which could also count as educational learning about thinking, writing, and reading. This book is great for kids because it can teach kids that it’s important to have trust on the people you love and call a best friend.
Natalia Arenas 6A

This book is about an 8 year old boy Jack, who likes books and doesn’t believe in fantasy and a 7 year old girl Annie, that believes in fantasy. Jack and Annie wanders of to the woods and stumbles across a tall tree, and in the summit, theres a tree house. Annie, who is too young to realise she shouldn't go there, decides to climb up, and finds lots of books. When she notifies her 8 year old brother, Jack went climbing the rope, because he loved books. He sees a book with dinosaurs, and he said "Wow, I wish I could see a Pteranodon for real," and where transported almost instantly to an ancient world with dinosaurs.Jack and Annie wanders off to the world. However they encounter various problems. This is an exiting adventure which teaches you various lessons, such as: you can believe in whatever you want, don't wander to other people property without their permission and last but not least, always be you. Annie always believed in her world, and was always herself. They both wandered and had a thrilling scary and exiting adventure. This are the things I learned when I was reading this book.
-- Santiago Gonzalez 6A

The book A Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister, is a perfect book to read to a child. It’s an awesome underwater adventure that guides you with spectacular drawings and a beautiful moral, with a greedy Rainbow Fish. This book is about a fish that was special, it was known as the most beautiful fish in the ocean. At the beginning the fish dismiss the other fish’s invitations to play. The Rainbow Fish was so selfish that when a little blue fish came by and asked for a scale, he just told the blue fish to go away. At the end the Rainbow Fish gives a scale to little blue fish, and at that moment Rainbow Fish sees his joy and feels the emotion of giving charity. Then everyone wanted a scale from Rainbow Fish so he starts to share more, and starts to feel more advantageous and delighted. Now he only had one scale and adventures to play with others. Pfister shows in the story that happiness can not be obtained with power and affluence. This is a book you definitely need to read to kids, because they learn that if they don’t share with their surroundings they will be lonely and won’t know how to be happy. - Valeria Gutiérrez Ortíz 6C #11

Ivy and Bean’s strong friendship is a great example for kids, especially right now. Children this age are stuck with technology, and forget to socialize. Ivy and Bean face a few problems but always find the solution. The lessons kids can learn from these two fictional characters, can be helpful in the future. Sure, Ivy and Bean fight, but they do not let that get in the way of their strong bond. The best part of this amazing series is that when the girls met, they didn’t even like each other. Eventually, they became friends, and then best friends! This beautiful ten volume series role models of how friendships truly are. Definitely not perfect. Actually, Ivy and Bean always get themselves into trouble, but no matter what, they stick together, and find a way out. The healthy friendship of these two girls is a great example for children to follow!
-CatalinaCavazos6A
