Parts of the Cleat that Improve Performance

The first part of the cleat that improves its performance are the studs. The studs are used to dig into the ground and provide extra traction while in motion. The second part of the shoe that improves performance is the vamp. The vamp is used as the flat surface to kick the soccer ball. It is flat to make sure the ball goes in the direction the vamp is pointed at. It is essential for scoring goals. The final part of the cleat that improves it's performance is the whole shoe itself. It is built with the lightest materials possible to decrease the overall mass of the shoe. The lighter the shoe, the faster the player will be able to move.

Environmental Impacts of Soccer Cleats

Soccer cleats have a large environmental impact on our planet. The first environmental impact of the shoe starts of with its durability. The durability of these shoes is about one soccer season. When the cleat is worn out, people generally will sell them back to sports stores. If people don't resell there cleats they are put into landfills because they cannot be recycled. The second environmental impact of the soccer cleat occurs during the manufactoring of the shoe. When the cleats are being manufactured, they release many harmful chemicals into environment. These chemicals can effect wildlife and even contribute to climate change. The third and final impact the cleats have on the environment is transporting the shoe to local markets. These shoes are also built in factories far away from local stores, so ships, airplanes and trucks are needed in order to deliver the goods to the retailers. When the cleats are being transported in the ships, airplanes and trucks, CO2 is released into the environment. Overall, there are many environmental impacts connected with the simple soccer cleat.

First soccer shoes were ankle high, made of strong leather and much heavier than the normal shoes worn during that time (1525). During the 1800's soccer became quite popular so more and more companies were created dedicated to soccer cleats. These companies would develop cleats that were more flexible and much lighter than the originals. Some of the cleats were built with detachable studs and were much more comfortable than the cleats worn in the 1500's. Now our cleats are built with synthetic material and with the lightest materials that can be produced. Our cleats are also much more stylish and comfortable

There are a bit of forces involved with soccer cleats. First, the studs on the cleats create a lot of friction to make slipping on the grass or turf not easy and allowing sharp turns. The weight of the player is distributed over the tips of the cleats, and this causes the studs to penetrate the ground and restrict movement. As the cleats dig deeper, more force can be generated to resist slipping laterally.

Many needs are met by soccer cleats. When looking for cleats. players look for some main aspects of the shoe: weight, grip, and overall performance. However the most important need that is met is the grip factor. This allows players to make sharp, quick turns without slipping.
