Brutus is trying to show the crowd that he and the other killers let Antony speak for Caesar. By doing this he is portraying himself to look more honorable to the crowd.

Brutus is showing the audience that since he caused the death of Caesar he is willing to pay the price and kill himself Using a cause and effect tactic on the audience.
