I am a former ESL teacher and I have a different role right now; however I can say that last school year I was so proud of the academic growth that my MLs showed on different content areas due to their amazing performance in English in my ESL class. Planning my ESL lessons with content area teachers in MS meant a lot in the results at the end of the school year. They improved all communicative skills and I am so happy for the ones that could exit out the program in middle.

This was my first year supporting high school multilingual students and I'm especially proud of the connections and collaborations I was able to develop in such a short amount of time. We've been better able to support families, academic teams and individual student needs as a result of it. I'm looking forward to an even stronger collaboration next school year!

I support high school MLs across my district and I think a big need is how to engage science/math/social studies content teachers so they are providing appropriate scaffolds and also understand the purpose and how to shift them over time.

Asset-based language when discussing ML instruction... The term ELD "services" continues to be used, yet language learning (in any language) is not a service, it is content instruction.
