The social sciences have the power to promote democracy, increase government accountability and plan for the future of society.  

The social sciences try to understand humans-their relationships, behaviour, development and the resources they use to survive.  They seek to explain the many kinds of organizations we need to carry out our daily lives like the workplace, school, family, government, etc.  

The study of social science subjects helps us to become a more efficient citizen, understand our place in a global economy, and help us to solve practical problems in our daily life.
