However, with the research I did throughout the unit, I was able to learn about different actions these organizations take in the country.

Now I know that there are a number of domestic strategies that are simple, cheap, and effective. Like the government actually taking action, or environmental factors. As well as that there were only a limited amount of reasons as to why a country could be stuck in a poverty trap and they were largely unrelated. Now I know that one of the most effective ways for a country to develop is bottom up development, and that small actions can come a long way when combined. I ignorantly thought that these countries were simply just poor from the beginning and there was no reasoning behind it. 

Now I know....that there are many traps involved in making a third world country, but there are ways that we can and should help to bring these countries' citizens out of these difficult living conditions. 

What did I learn from this unit about development?

I learned that NGOs play a big role in helping countries develop. Development is something that many countries and people should strive for because it is starting a new and improved part of one life and future.

However, through this unit I learned that factors such as the area the country is in and the resources available can also greatly affect a country's development. There are multiple traps a country can face, not only with government. 

I learned about the bottom up development plans, and they are more effective in helping people get out of poverty, and raise the country's economy. It's called a 'poverty trap' for a reason. I also thought that only the government would be able to help with poverty stricken places and they would have the facilities and money for it.
Now I know that you don't necessarily need that much money to help others. You can create small domestic strategies, that can help that specific area with what there struggling with so no only is it convenient it's easily accessible by all.

Now I know that there are several NGOs that have had a big impact on developing countries. When several changes are made, combined together it can be more beneficial to the country than the government taking the actions they were in the past.
