Foster serves as Superintendent of Coalinga-Huron Unified School District, where she has led curricula-based initiatives to improve student performance in one of California's poorest districts. Drawing upon over 20 years of experience in a variety of education-related roles, Dr. Foster introduced academic programs such Project Lead the Way (PTLW) and Sobrato Early Academic Language (SEAL), the latter of which has been successful in improving literacy and achievement among English as a Second Language students as well as other high-risk students. A member of the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA), Dr. Foster has held administrative roles within Hayward Unified School District, San Jose Unified School District, and Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District, among others. As Principal of Livermore's Mendenhall Middle School, Helen K. Foster introduced technology that aided student success such as classroom smartboards, software for the school's award-winning musical groups, and an advanced Photoshop lab for art students. Helen K. Foster began her career in education as a chemistry, physics, and physical science teacher at San Lorenzo High School. Additionally, she later served 12 years as a school board trustee for the San Lorenzo Unified School District. She holds Bachelor's Degrees in Speech & Drama and Chemistry as well as a Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering.
