Whether it was dancing, volleyball, or soccer I always remember being involved in something. I am so glad I joined so many sports clubs and stayed active, not only because of how healthy it has made me, but also because I had the chance to meet so many people and make lifelong friendships. However, after being a state runner up for the volleyball championship my junior year of high school I unfortunately tore my ACL while I was high jumping. This later required me to undergo two knee surgeries to repair my knee. This injury was definitely hard because I had spent so much of my life being active and I knew I would never be the same. With the pandemic postponing or cancelling so many of the freshman year experiences I was hoping to have, I struggled to adapt to my new life here. Luckily, I found the STEM education program and with that a passion to teach. Finding people that I truly wanted to be around was hard but I have already made so many lifelong friends by trying new experiences and putting myself out there.
