Teachers are able to print out the slides and have solid notes for students to follow along. There can be positioned "blank spots" in which students must fill out; this way, students are paying close attention in order to take good notes. PowerPoints are helpful for teachers, for they are easy to modify and change if a lesson doesn't go quite as planned. PowerPoints sometimes get a bad reputation, for they are boring or too easy; however, if created inventively, teachers can incorporate group work, audio, and visuals to help students, and highlight important material for students to be sure to understand. PowerPoints are very helpful in the classroom, especially when teaching a topic for the first time. 

In this PowerPoint, Intro to Composite of Functions, I have created it in order for students to be interactive with it! I included pop-up arrows and highlighted areas to make sure students recognize the most important aspects. I also added the transitional period within each slide in order for students to focus on one idea at a time. Overwhelming the students with a lot on one slide depreciates the value of teaching with a PowerPoint.

Edpuzzle is a way that teachers can record their lessons and assign them for homework, therefore the students can get an idea of what will be taught in class the next day. The best part about Edpuzzle is not only the availability of having the teacher record the lesson so students can refer back to it when struggling, but from the teacher's perspective, Edpuzzle allows you to pause the video and ask questions along the way. With this feature, Edpuzzle enforces the students not to skip over the video and actually learn and digest the material. By pausing the video at certain points, the teacher can ask guiding questions, take a break to have the students copy down important pages, or even get their opinion on a certain concept! As the world is changing, especially to virtual learning this past year, students are able to familiarize themself with a topic by listening to their teacher speak. It does not feel weird listening to a stranger present material, for the teacher is the one teaching!

Although Edpuzzle is a great tool to use in the classroom, it is very time-consuming to create the videos and take the time to edit them properly. When used correctly, students get a more fulfilled learning style, but it can be common for teachers to use it incorrectly by rushing through. When uploading to Edpuzzle, it only takes a few minutes to edit the video by incorporating the questions. Having an idea of what you would like to ask the students helps time progress faster. Edpuzzle is a sure way for students to enjoy their homework by not having a worksheet full of problems to do at home that are repetitive but engage in an interactive short video giving them a preview of the next class. Also, another benefit Edpuzzle brings to the classroom is the flowing of ideas and understanding of the topic. By seeing a preview of the material, students can have questions ready for the next class and help other students gain an understanding that they might have missed in a lecture-style classroom.

When wanting students to work together and put together their ideas into a place they will want to remember, Mindmeister helps student form a map where all their ideas can be published. This website allows students to add different branches to a Mind Map to describe and connect one idea. For example, when brought together into groups students can use a lesson in the chapter to brainstorm the most important concepts in that lesson and create an outline of what to study for that specific lesson; furthermore, when a class is put into many groups a chapter study guide can be created by the entire test just by using Mindmeister!

Not only is Mindmeister great for the classroom, but individuals as well! Mindmeister helps students with learning disabilities put all their ideas into one place and it functionally is appealing because of how organized it is. It can be used to show how each step is worked out and progresses into the next step. Mindmeister is a great tool for those students who need a clear road-map on how to go about a specific lesson. 

This is a pre-made MindMeister Map to identify 21st Century Skills needed: Critical Thinking, Creativity, Communication, and Collaboration. I thought this was a great map that really shows how students or teachers can create branches off of topics to show what is within each branch! This is also a great map to show students and remind what is expected of them in a mathematics classroom!

PhET is a free website that uses simulations in Math, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Science that helps students prosper and engage in activities to indulge in a concept presented in class. In a math class, some of its material can be confusing, so PhET provides simulations to help create a game-like scenario in which students can discover, create, explore, and learn about the lesson! While the other resources I provided earlier rely on the teacher to create and individualize the lesson, PhET provides the simulations for the teacher! To help create a learning environment, the teacher may prepare a worksheet that goes along with the simulation but puts the focus on the student's ability to learn themself. The simulations are a cause-and-effect type of problem; to explain, it changes and shows the result based on what the student enters. Therefore, the simulations although created the same are flexible to fit each student's ideas and thoughts. 

PhET is a great tool in the classroom to dive deeper into a lesson that may be confusing for the class and help get a better understanding of what is going on. However, it is a great tool to present a new topic and let the students learn through exploring the simulation and getting an idea of how a specific concept works. Students with IEP's with either learning disabilities or behavioral issues also do great with PhET! PhET instantly checks to see how you are with the concept with frequent checkpoints. Since it is also interactive, it feels more like a game rather than a lesson. PhET also includes a lot of simulations, while also the ability to create your own!

Quizizz has millions of examples already created that anyone can use when creating a free account. The educator can personalize the quiz to match each class, as well as each lesson. Once the educator picks which Quizizz they think best fits, then a class code is obtained and each student logs in using the class code. The quiz can be used for in-class assignments, such as a review, or it can be assigned as homework. 

Quizizz lets the students take the quiz at their own pace, so then he or she doesn’t feel the pressure of answering quicker than their peers. Another great tool the website comes with is allowing the creator to put a time limit on each question so that the students don’t take too much time on one question. Although this is a quiz, it does add competition to it; for, there is a scoring rubric that will tally up the students’ points (including how fast they answer if they answered correctly and if they answered a redemption question). This creates a competitive atmosphere that the kids enjoy. After each question, a leaderboard is shown and the top 10 students in the class are shown, this also helps the students take the quiz seriously, even though it’s an online quiz because the students’ goal is to be on the leaderboard.

Although similar to Kahoot!, Quizizz can allow up to 120 seconds for a student to answer, while Kahoot! only allows 30 seconds. Kahoot! also does not allow to be set up for homework, while Quizizz can be! I personally enjoy Quizizz, for  it allows students to go at their own pace and be individually scored without the entire class looking at them.

A way that I have used Excel is by creating a digital Gradebook in which I input the scores, and Excel does the rest! In this example, Excel alphabetized my students (names are not real), compute averages of each assignment/test/quiz, input grades based on a percentage scale, as well as show grade distributions. I have color-coordinated my Gradebook in order for me to understand where I am in my Gradebook (green- assignment; blue- quiz; orange-final project). This has easily been a great resource for me as a teacher, for I am able to clearly and easily access all of my data, as well as input as assignments grow! Excel also has benefits, such as creating graphs and representations to show distribution tables, or see how the class is doing. 

Not only is Excel beneficial for teachers, it also can help students as well! Students in a statistics class or other STEM class, can easily input data and create tables, graphs, and use formulas to create their own spreadsheet! The ability to use Excel is also extremely important in the work field. I know that my job requires knowledge of Excel; therefore, by having students learn it early on, they are able to improve and learn new skills!

It is also what I have used to show my Curation of Resources. The Padlet attached is a Compliment Board created by Padlet. It is a discussion in which different compliments are posted! Padlet is a great tool, for students can post their thoughts or ideas, then comment on other students! 

Students today sometimes use Canvas in order to discuss with their classmates. Padlet is a fun way to connect and discuss! Students are able to react to different posts, comments, or to vote! With this, students are able to get creative with their posts. They can add videos, links, or images to help display their point of view. Padlet also allows the teacher to create their own discussion, rule out any unnecessary topics/discussions, as well as emphasize any fantastic post!

Teachers can also keep posts anonymous. Therefore, for any student who does not feel comfortable portraying their voice, this is a way to keep things private. Now, students are able to discuss their opinions without backlash; something that canvas cannot do.
