One way that we can positively affect the balance is that we can use pervious surfaces to absorb any water runoff from the tops of buildings. This would negatively affect the balance because the trash would pollute the water and all the living animals and plants underwater would die.

Us humans can affect the environment positively and negatively, for example the penguin rescue, there was an oil spill so humans helped to save the African Penguins. Although we caused the oil spill which negatively affected the environment we helped the animals that were affected by the oil spill and cleaned their habitat from the oil which positively affected them and the environment. We can affect the environment in many different ways, in positive ways and sometimes negative ways. We are affecting the Earth everyday and maybe we don't know it it can be in good or bad ways but our actions make a huge difference and we need to think before we do something. We can also affect the environment by littering or picking up liter. We can make compost bins and decrease the methane going into the air. We can affect the environment in many ways, it can be as small as picking up trash or as big as getting a community to help save penguins.

Humans can affect the balance on earth by getting rid of animals habitats. I think this because every time someone cuts down a tree an animal loses it's home and dies. When this happens it messes up the food chain and other animals and plants that eat that animal/plant and depend on it for food will start to die because there food has been killed because of humans. When the animal that used to eat that animal die off the animal that eats that will start to die until there are none left and then we can eat and we will die. All of this wouldn't have happened if HUMANS wouldn't have affected the food chain. This is how humans can dramatically affect the balance on earth.

Some of the ways I know that are that the pervious surface is heavy and it would need the other parking lot to be pulled up then it would need to be stuck down. Also, you cannot put salt on it in the winter, so it could be a safety hazard for children and adults. Then, the green roof would not work because it is to heavy for HWES's roof, but even if it did, it would take a long time to produce the grass, plants and trees.

For green roofs you have to get a lot of materials, but rain gardens have less materials to buy. Also, rain gardens are attractive and can provide habitats for animals. Insects could live in the plants and eat the plants. That's why I think the rain garden is the best option out of the three choices.
