"The danger of a single story" i understand this statement to mean that it is dangerous to only listen to a single side or view on a story and forming an opinion around the information given in the story.Instead of listening to all sides of the story and then forming an informed decision or opinion with all the facts.
This statement held true in West Indian cricket, that is to say that Cricket was seen as a gentlemen's game that is to say it would be played in a gentlemanly manner.
The one side to the story that everyone believed was what only "Whites" could play cricket and that it was a gentleman's sport.
This was proven untrue when the 1970s West Indies team dominated the game for many years. In doing this they showed the world that cricket was in truth a dangerous game and that is was possible for "non-Whites" to play and win cricket.
