Therefore, I would like to examine how these interactions specifically play into people's use of substances and the effects they can have on the body. I already know that lower-income communities can tend to have higher rates of substance abuse, but beyond that, I am not very educated on the topic.

I already know that alternative medicine is not to be used as a sole method of treatment (trust science!), but I am curious about how it can be incorporated into more scientific treatment plans and at-home care. A lot of medicine especially is aimed at finding the cure or solution but when it comes to living with chronic pain and illness it often can not be looked at that way, rather ways to manage the patients life and learn how to live with their illness and pain. I have seen the effects that living with life-long pain can have and I also know that there is a lot of inaccessibility that comes into play. However, struggling with mental health and mental illness are two different things. What I would be interested in looking at is the rate of mental illness across communities that vary in income level and access to resources. It would be fascinating for me to see if there is any correlation between income level and developing a mental illness. Although right now I am specifically interested in looking at the rate of mental illness across different communities, It would also be beneficial to see what other health complications rise up and have correlations with living situations, levels of income, and access to resources as well. While I know that living in a low income community means that you have lesser access to important resources such as healthcare, doctor's offices, healthy food, and work, and I would assume that this takes a heavy toll on people's physical and mental health, I don't know anything specific about the statistical data.
