Hrothgar asks Beowulf to battle Grendel's mother because she killed Hrothgar's closest friend. Grendel's mother came to avenge the death of her son so she took what was closest to Hrothgar. In lines 414-415 it states "She'd taken Hrothgar's closest friend, the man he most loved of all men on earth". This shows that the death of this friend really hurt Hrothgar because he was the closest friend of all which cause him to ask Beowulf to battle Grendel's mother. Hrothgar knew that Beowulf was the one that could defeat Grendel's mother so he asked for his assistance again.
2.) Beowulf went to Grendel's dead body and cut his head off after he killed Grendel's mother. Beowulf decapitated Grendel's mother with the sword, and then decapitated Grendel to get his final revenge on grendel for all the damage he has done. In lines 541-544 it states "Found him lying dead in his corner, armless exactly as the fierce fighter had sent him out from Herot, then struck off his head with a single swift blow". The magical powerful sword was used to end Grendel once and for all even though he was already dead. That final blow meant something to Beowulf and he felt it was something he had to do.

Grendel's mother does seem kind of wicked but her behavior isn't unreasonable unlike Grendel's behavior. Grendel has been Killing the Danes for pretty much twelve years and was doing it for his own blood lust. Then finally Grendel falls into a trap of Beowulf and loses his arm. Eventually he dies which then the mother is angered and is sad for the lost of her son. So full of anger so goes and kills Hrothgar's best friend. The mother had a reason at least to kill somebody unlike Grendel did.  
2) After he kills Grendel's mother, Beowulf sees the body of Grendel nearby and he cuts off Grendel's head as a trophy. Having cleansed the mere of evil, Beowulf swims back to the surface and proceeds with the Danes to Heorot, where he presents the head to Hrothgar.

The body jerked for the last time, then lay still." Even tho Grendel was already dead and armless he dismembered grendel by cutting off his head. Beowulf felt the need to dismember him to settle the rage in his heart and for final revenge against Grendel's vicious attacks.

from the text. Grendel's mother doesn't seem kind but she doesn't seem more unreasonable then Grendel. Grendel took time and effort to kill the Danes for twelve years. Grendel began killing for his own joy and twisted blood lust. Eventually Grendel fell into Beowulf trap and ended up losing his arm. This was during the battle with Grendel and he lost his head in the battle with Grendel's mother. on page 50, lines 233-239, it states "out from the marsh, from the foot of misty hills and bogs, bearing God's hatred, Grendel came homping to kill anyone he could trap on this trip to high Herot. he moved quickly through the cloudy night, up from the swampland, sliding silently towards the gold-shining hall. He had visit Hrothgar home." 2.Grendel’s mother behavior does not  seem as wicked or unreasonable
as Grendel’s behavior. Grendel’s behavior is unprovoked and out of jealousy while Grendel’s mother attacks out of revenge for the death of Grendel and greef. On page 55, above line 97 it says “ Although one monster has died, another still lives. From her lair in a cold and murky lake, where she has been brooding over her loss, Grendel’s mother emerges, bent on revenge.” This supports my claim because she had more of a justifiable reason to go out and kill. This is why I believe that Grendel’s mother's behavior is not as wicked or unreasonable as Grendel’s.

In the passage it references how “From her liar in a cold and murky lake where she has been brooding over her loss, Grendel’s mother emerges, bent on revenge.” My previous sentence supports my claim that Grendel’s mother’s behavior is wicked or unreasonable at all because she is clearly trying to get payback for her son’s death.

Save us, Once more, and again twisted gold, Headed- up ancient treasure, will reward you For the battle you win!” So basically he killed his friend and obviously that made him very upset. In the text it states “ The monsters’ hall was full of Rich treasures, but all that beowulf took was grendel's head and the hilt of the giants’ Jew;ed sword; the rest of that ring-marked Blade had dissolved in Grendel’s steaming Blood, boiling even after his death.” This quote is basically saying that after he killed Grendel's mother he went into the “Monsters hall”. The monster's hall was full with rich treasures but he looked past all of that and took Grendel's body. He then decapitated Grendel's head.

3.)Grendel's mom's conduct appears to be entirely sensible in light of the fact that she just killed to retaliate for the demise of her child yet Grendel killed in light of the fact that he was envious and desolate. Grendel's mom appears to be somewhat underhanded however her conduct isn't preposterous not normal for Grendel's conduct. Grendel has been Killing the Danes for essentially twelve years and was doing it for his own blood desire. Then, at that point, at last Grendel falls into a snare of Beowulf and loses his arm. In the end he bites the dust which then the mother is incensed and is tragic for the lost of her child. So brimming with outrage so proceeds to kill Hrothgar's dearest companion. This statement from the story shows us that the death of his friend really did some damage to him. Hrothgar knows that Beowulf is the only one capable of beating Grendel's mother so he asks for his help once again.

He already sliced Grendel's head off but also felt the need to cut Grendel's head off so he could get his final revenge for everything that he did. The powerful sword essential to ending Grendel for good and putting Beowulf at ease.
