I have learnt to read through the questions more carefully and to pay greater attention to detail. Furthermore, I have realised the importance of answering the questions after reading them as a whole, rather than basing my answers from something I have seen in the textbook. The excruciating loss of one mark due to a calculation error is a constant reminder for me to reread the questions when reviewing my answers.

For this prelims, I learned that I should try to not spend too much time on earlier questions since I tend to not have enough time for the last few questions. Because of this, I don’t have enough time to check my answers and I end up getting minus points for that. A lot of my methods to do the paper was also inefficient and I think I should have revised more

I aslo need to analyze the question carefully to scavaneg for any hints that it might give me so i can get the answer easily. Careless mistakes were also made which i will hopefully resolve.

Through this paper, I learnt that it would be in my best interest to practice on more past year papers so that I may learn to apply more of what I have learnt. I tend to struggle with the things that are not found in the book which proves that I have not actually fully mastered the topics being taught. I also realised that I made a lot of careless mistakes along the way (inputing the wrong enthalpy value when calculating, not drawing the bond in OH in displayed formula, etc.) I think I need to improve on the speed at which I answer questions so that I will have more time to answer the paper better as I realised that the lack of time towards the end made me commit a lot of careless mistakes which sadly cost me a lot of marks. I need to review more on periodicity and equilibrium as well.

From Paper 2, I learnt that I have to learn more about how to write equations such as BrCl + H2O -> HCl + HBrO. I need to analyse the questions more clearly in order to write the correct points. I should also do the questions slowly as I am careless, and that I should process my thoughts first before writing answers. Since I have been doing a lot of past papers, I felt as if my answering skills have improved as I have a better understanding on how to answer the questions. For the upcoming mocks, I should revise on more past papers and memorise and understand how to draw mechanisms, trends and tests and theories.
