The ESL program is a program meant to teach students the English language and in this program, English is the second language learned.

the purpose of ESL programs is to familiarize students with the English language and how to read write and speak English. ESL classes are very hands-on and writing-based. The length of these classes varies based on school but in most cases, it's a whole class period however there are some cases where kids get pulled for a few minutes to be worked with. To be an ESL teacher you have to be certified to be a teacher in the state of Texas and also complete and ESL certification to be able to teach an ESL class.

1.working in groups. promoting students to work together and communicate out loud so they can practice speaking English while also writing in English

How to engage parents and families

Find opportunities to get parents in the classroom. this could be volunteer opportunities or parent-teacher conferences where you can have a conversation with them about education and what they can do to help their child.

Providing resources that both the parent and student can look through to gain a better understanding of what is going on in the classroom

When sending anything make sure that is it sent home in the native language and in English to make sure that there is a line of stable communication
encourage families to send stuff with their students that represents their culture.
