The Iran crisis began with the U.S. giving shelter to Iran’s former leader. This angered the Iranian Revolutionaries and lead to them taking Americans from the embassy as hostage. Eventually the hostages were released and the embargo on Iran was lifted. This incident only made matters worse when it was discovered that Iran had a working nuclear program for 18 years secretly. This was an issue because it broke the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. This lead to high tensions and sanctions on Iran. Eventually a deal was made. A four year armed conflict has brought deaths to over 200,000 Syrians, beginning as an anti government protest and escalating into a civil War. 11 million other people were forced from their homes as forces loyal to president Bashar al-Assad. Those opposed to his rule battled each other as well as Jihadist militants from the Islamic state. It Began in March, 2011 after the arrest and torture of teenagers who graffitied on a bathroom wall, after this security forced opened fire on demonstrators and protestors, which killed many people. Violence began to escalate and protests spread throughout the country.
World actions/reactions: United States supports the rebels of this conflict and Russia supports Tye president of Syria. Saudi Arabia does not support the president. Turkey supports the rebels. Iran supports Assad.

Summary:
The Taliban, a fundamental political movement, is waging war with Afghanistan. The Taliban has been raiding, bombing and killing innocent people and destroying public places.

Causes:
The Taliban's promise was to restore peace and security to enforce their version of Islamic law. It came into prominence in the autumn of 1994 through religious seminaries.

World actions:
The US attempted to defeat the Taliban military and rebuild core institutions of the Afghan state while protecting civilians from taliban attacks

Basic Summary

The Democratic Republic of Congo is slowly recovering from a conflict known as Africa's First World War, which led to the loss of about five million lives between 1994 and 2003, but eastern areas are still filled with violence as rebel groups continue to work there.

After Rwanda's genocidal Hutu regime was overthrown, more than two million Hutus fled into Congo fearing revenge by the new, Tutsi government.
Some of them were them were militiamen responsible for the genocide.
They became alliences with Mobutu's government and began to attack Congo's ethnic Tutsis, who had lived in the country for generations.

Confict Summary: Conflict is between the Amry of Sudan and the People’s Liberation Movement North. This is known as the third Sudaneze Civil war.  There is alot of separation and fighting within the country causing numerous deaths.

Reaction: They started a bombing campaign on the North and South Sudaneze border, which caused many civilian deaths. 100 thousand people are on the verge of starvation. UK sent an aircraft to evauate citizens from
juba. The US embassy monitored the security in South Sudan. Obama sent troops to protect US personal.


Causes: Much unrest in the people and the military along with many successful uprisings in areas in Sudan.

Causes: The economy is crashing due to inflation by he government. People also want the president Maduro to step down because he is eroding democracy. Government blocked attempts to get Maduro out of power

World Response: Many countries have come to the realization that the Maduro administration has committed various crimes such as narcotics trafficking and money laundering. In response to this there have been sanctions placed against Venezuela to combat this.

Summary: Al-Shahaab influence over vast amounts of Somalian territory continues to grow, capitalizing on the feebleness of the Somalian government in light of the recent Somalian Civil War. The fighting between government and the terrorist force has resulted in many civilians being caught in the crossfire. Not to mention the civil war that ended only 6 years ago.

Reaction: The only action taken that I've seen in my research was the United Nations stepping in and setting up a UN-backed government of Somalia in order to end the civil war that left it in anarchy.

Cause: The cause of today's feeble Somalian government is a direct result of the civil war that left the country in anarchy a while ago.

Cause: The conflicts in the Democratic Republic of Congo were mainly due to its rich resources. During a painful independence struggle in the 1960s, the vast country almost disintegrated as regions fought each other over those resources.

Mobutu took charge in the fight for independence but was eventually seduced by wealth and once he controlled most of the country and achieved a level of stability and prosperity, he began using the country's riches for one thing - to ensure he remained in power.

As his rule went on, his plunder continued and the country gradually slipped out of his control.

The 1994 genocide in neighboring Rwanda hastened his downfall and helped plunge DR Congo into the deadliest conflict in African history.

World actions: Ultimately, nine African countries and around twenty five armed groups became involved in the war.

-Kabila had originally discounted the possibility of support from Francophone Africa but after a summit meeting in Libreville, Gabon, on 24 September, Chad agreed to send 2000 troops
