I strive to make eco-friendly and sustainable decisions, but I don't always think about how they will affect my family for the next three generations. I think it can be useful in the fight against climate change because it will encourage people to reduce their carbon footprint and protect the natural resources that are essential to life. According to an article, Canada is looking for indigenous peoples to help manage its boreal forests, which are the world's largest intact forest ecosystem and one of its largest carbon reservoirs. Indigenous peoples have a long history and a deep understanding of how-to live-in harmony with nature and think for future generations. This is a positive step for Canada and for the world, and I hope more people will learn from the wisdom and practices of the Indigenous peoples.

I think that, when the local communities combat with negative human activities, everything will be perfect. However, the mining and deforestation still continues. If all people come together, there is nothing they cannot achieve. That's why I think people should come together and get a common idea to solve the problem. Indigenous communities like Don Saganash have been struggling with negative human activity for years. This situation is very good for future generations because if local people tell future generations about their struggles, future generations will have a bright future. It's not just local communities, all countries communities should help who need help for solve the problem easily. I can't think my after three or two generations because Our lives are changing day by day and this change is affecting everyone in the whole world.

Whether it comes from books or the outside world, everyone is calling for environmental protection and love for our earth, which is our home. What I want to say here is that these are only slogans, and few people act. In China, March 12th is defined as Arbor Day. I remember that when I was in school, the school would organize students to go out to plant trees on this day. The purpose is to protect nature. This behavior is fine, but I feel like it looks like it's doing something, in other words, after the day, it doesn't matter if the trees survive or not. Many topics that people get together to chat now are about: housing prices, inflation and so on. Few people will mention our environment, natural resources, and other topics. I think everyone ignores the protection of the environment, which is a problem. Through this article, I feel that I will change myself. For example: strictly separate garbage, reduce the use of plastic products and consider buying second-hand goods. Ukraine is the largest country in Europe, our nature is incredibly beautiful and ranges from hot Crimean steppes to snowy Carpathian mountains. In school I was taught to care about nature and now in everyday life, I am trying to minimize the negative influence on the environment. Recycle plastic bottles instead of throwing them in the bin, and turn off lights when I don't need them on anymore. I think It's up to us to do what we can to care for the environment. When I am making decisions I am thinking about how that will affect not just 3 generations in the future, but how that will affect all Earth's inhabitants. I think that each person should carefully use Earth’s resources and remember that someone else is living on the same land. This is the only way we can fight climate change and save forests.

Native Americans have always had a deep relationship with the land, and they have a rich ancestral ecological understanding that may be used to manage the land effectively and develop measures to fight climate change. Also, to meet its climate goal, the Canadian government has set aside a budget of $340 million to help the indigenous communities to protect their areas, and carbon sinks as well as making them stakeholders with the responsibility to stop deforestation. According to, Mandy Gull-Masty, the grand chief of the Cree National Government, which represents the Cree communities in Quebec mentioned in her interview with Norimitsu Onishi and Nasuna Stuart-Ulin, journalists at The New York Times in their article that “Within the past five years, I have seen a shift and an openness, particularly at the federal level, where I think they’re starting to understand that traditional knowledge acquired over sometimes millennia is as valid as Western Science”(“Fighting Climate Change, Indigenous People Protect Canadian Forests,” 2022’ P.02). I think that Indigenous people usually possess knowledge of medicinal plants that is unfamiliar to science and might prove superior to what modern medicine currently possesses. They frequently have better ideas for managing local land since they have lived in their region for many generations and are familiar with its eccentricities. I learned that it is important to carry traditional knowledge from our ancestors to help us support our health and wellness, not only for ourselves but also for the community and the next generations.

But after reading the article and discovering the boreal forest here in Canada, I realized there’s more to nature that I did not yet explore, and its free. Planting of trees, flowers and using or organic manure in our soil is our way of maintaining nature's peace. Reading this article brings a bit of emotion of sadness, because my parents always taught me to cherish "mother nature" from the animals, the oceans, the rivers and the trees all play a part in making our bodies healthy, for both oxygen and food. These teaching from my parents have transferred from their parents, then to my parents and now to me and I am also teaching my son about nature so he can then teach his children. In my country in the school's children are taught to plant trees and farm as a subject, from preschool to tertiary level. The government in my country is making sure children learn from a young age of preserving nature and protecting our wildlife.
